Venus Optics Laowa 20mm f/4 Zero-D Shift Overview
Pairing an exceptionally wide angle of view with the ability to correct for perspective distortion, the Laowa 20mm f/4 Zero-D Shift from Venus Optics is an ideal lens for architectural and interior photography. Offered here in a Leica L mount, the lens's broad 94.4° angle of view is complemented by an impressive +/- 11mm shift range to compensate for unwanted converging lines and keystone distortion. Additionally, as part of the Zero-D lens series, this lens also renders scenes with a high degree of accuracy and very low distortion.
In terms of optics, two aspherical elements and three extra-low dispersion elements are featured, which reduce both spherical and chromatic aberrations for high sharpness and clarity. A water-repellent "frog eye" coating also protects the front lens element from water droplets and moisture. The lens uses a manual focus design for working with subjects as close as 9.8" away and has a fourteen-blade diaphragm for producing smooth and circular bokeh as well as specular highlights when stopped-down and photographing point light sources.

Well-engineered landscape / architecture lens
This lens met my expectations for a general-use shift lens. It is solidly built and nails all the things you'd seek in a landscape lens, shooting raw: sharp images at f5.6, no distortion, and a precise and satisfying focus throw. The colors are ever so slightly muted, but accurate, so it is much easier to correct for in post, compared to distortion in the image, which also robs you of effective focal length.
Very nice
Really like this lens! Got it a couple weeks ago and I'm really enjoying it. Metal construction, fells really solid. All the adjustment rings are smooth and I have no problem getting images in focus. Just an advise! My filter holder didn't fit this lens (NiSi V7 100mm filter holder) so I had to buy circular filters for it.
Excellent lens for Sony
I started with a different brand 24mm Tilt/Shift lens from for my A7RIV. That lens had a bad vignetting, even with no correction. Second lens same problem. So I went for this Venus Optics Laowa 20mm f/4 Zero-D Shift Lens for my SONY. I took it out for test shots right away. VERY PLEASED with this lens. The lens wide open is a bit on the soft side, but I will be using this lens in the f8-f16 range and at these apertures, the lens performs beautifully. The build quality is very good, all metal from what I can tell. The shift adjustment is MUCH NICER than the OTHER BRAND 24mm T/S lens that I had initially. The SHIFT lock is very nice and the shift adjustment is smooth and well made. I started with 4x5 cameras in the late 1970s and this Laowa 20mm f/4 Zero-D Shift Lens is very capable! I highly recommend it.
