The SymplyLTO SAS LTO-9 Half-Height Rackmount Tape Drive from SYMPLY features a half-height, 1 RU form factor with dual drive bays, one of which has an LTO-9 tape drive that connects via a 12 Gb/s SAS-8644 port to your Windows, Mac, or Linux system. LTO-9 media supports a native storage capacity of up to 18TB and data transfers of up to 300 MB/s, or, when using 2.5:1 compression, a storage capacity of up to 45TB and data transfers of up to 500 MB/s.

So, you can start with one LTO in your rackmount system and add an additional drive in a matter of seconds, without even having to power the system off. Likewise for servicing, if in the unlikely event of a drive failure, the failed drive can be removed without the need to power off the whole system, and only the failed drive needs to be returned for repair.
