SOMA Laboratory ORNAMENT-8 Overview
Explore an entirely new way of approaching synthesis behavior with the SOMA Laboratory Ornament-8, an organismic 8-step analog sequencer, which splits itself into eight cells, each sporting a controllable delay line from 50ms to 50 seconds. With the ability to point trigger signals from one cell or trigger point to any other, you can generate unique, organic sequences.
A trigger point can send trigger signals to any other point except the origin, including multiple destinations at once. Once trigger loops are generated, manipulation of the time delays on each cell enable for evolving and potentially highly complex patterns that would be otherwise impossible on a linear-style sequencer. Ornament-8 features no memory or presets, all patching is done in modular fashion with cost-effective alligator clips. The device also features 3.5mm CV jacks that are compatible with the Lyra-8, Pulsar-23, Eurorack modules, and virtually any other CV-compatible device, including non-audio products like lighting equipment. There are 78 contact points provided on the Ornament-8.
Cells can be flipped to positive (active), neutral (off), and negative (inverted mode of operation). Set and Reset buttons allow you to engage or clear loops for each cell, allowing you to instantly transform any configuration and explore how temporal effects cause patterns to evolve in new ways via cooperative interaction, just like a living organism. The Ornament-8 includes a power supply, power cable, and several alligator-clip cables in both 11.8 and 25.6" lenghts.
For controlling the Lyra-8, SOMA developed a special adapter (available separately) for easy connection to the Lyra sensors while also preserving the ability to play it normally with your fingers. The adapter attaches to Lyra?s surface using magnets which make installation easy and safe. Ornament is an organismic sequencer and complements Lyra?s organismic synthesis nature, making them a perfect pair.
