SmallRig Mini Matte Box Overview
Add an even lighter and more compact matte box to your rig with the Mini Matte Box Lite from SmallRig. The clamp-on matte box weighs only 3.8 oz and fits small mirrorless or DSLR cameras. It is made from durable but lightweight carbon fiber material, as well as plastic and aluminum components. It accepts multiple 4 x 5.65" filters and comes with one filter tray and four adapter rings to attach the matte box to a variety of lenses. The maximum load capacity of the matte box is 2.2 lb.
The included carbon fiber top flag helps block veiling glare or bright reflections from striking your lens, and it can be folded down to cover the front of the matte box and provide protection to the front of your lens. The matte box features a 95mm diameter opening, and the included 67, 72, 77, and 82mm threaded adapter rings allow you to use the matte box with lenses of different sizes and diameters. A separately available adapter ring kit can be used for additional lens sizes, and it also accepts circular filters up to a 92.5mm diameter.

Does not fit 95mm lens!

Wish I would've bought this sooner
Stackable filters. Direct to lens Mount. Super lightweight. Top flag makes you look real cool. I bought a Misfit Atom a few years ago that was like 5 times the cost and then you needed a bunch of accessories just to get it working. I wish I would've bought this instead.
Simple to use and well built.
Its compact size allow for it io fit in my camera bag with other equipment. As well as the build quality is very good.
Great little matte box
Perfect for what I need. Build quality is excellent.
Great quality, but flawed concept
I was so excited when I got this, it's a beautifully constructed, well made, light matte box. When I put this on my lens I immediately realized the issue, it's still to heavy to not use a rail support! Even with no filters in, I could feel the focusing mechanisms in my lenses straining and grinding and there is NO built in thread for a support. Only buy this if your lenses are internal movement systems, I can see this thing really ruining lenses over prolonged use.
Limitations, but performs as expected for the way I use it.
I have 2 other larger Matte boxes. One is the slightly larger SmallRig Lightweight Carbon Fiber Matte Box, the other is a giant cinema set up. I read other reviews and as long as it doesn't break unexpectedly it will be exactly what I'm looking for. I'll be using it on lighter weight camera/lens set up where I will not be using rails/rods. I have a set of 4x5.65 ND filters, but I only have circular mist/cinebloom filters. So the 1 slot for the 4x5.65 doesn't bother me.
Its Ok
It is difficult to change rings with each lens you use, but it works when the price is important.
Can't expect how good it will
Before this one I used only standard size box. Can't expect how portable and good this one will be...
