Description
SmallRig CH10 Overview
Create smooth pan and tilt moves with your small camera rig using the lightweight CH10 Compact Fluid Head from SmallRig. The durable aluminum fluid head features a flat 36mm base for mounting onto a separately available compact tripod such as the SmallRig UT10 using its 1/4"-20 thread. Its maximum load capacity is 6.6 lb.
The compact head features a quick release Arca-type plate with a 1/4"-20 camera mounting screw for quick changing of your camera rig. It has a tilt range of +90 to -55°, it can pan a full 360°, and it features independent pan and tilt locks. The included 7.9" pan handle can be installed on either the right or left side of the head.

Light weight arca swiss compatible head for spotting scopes
This is the best thing that has happened to my backcountry hunting kit since silicone impregnated nylon was deployed. This is PERFECT for spotting scopes in a lightweight package that is under $100. It used to be you had to pay around $300 for a solution that this hits out of the park for $50. Not sure how durable it is yet but it is made of aluminum and seems to be a solid piece of equipment.
Excellent video head for small travel tripods
Made with metal, very sturdy. My only wish is that the pan arm were easily removable for storage with my tripod. in the tripod bag. Using it with a Canon HF R300 and a Padcaster iPad frame.
First fluid head I owned
I have used larger fluid heads with bigger cameras a long time ago. However, for photography I had always used simple pan/tilt photo heads or ball heads. I decided to look for fluid heads after getting a mirrorless camera that can also record video. I ordered this one specifically because I wanted to be able to use arca-swiss style baseplates. This also does not break the bank for a fluid head, which is nice. I am very happy with it so far. I use it a lot more on my desk for when I want to have the Nikon Z5 as my webcam.
Pan movement difficult
For such a small compact design, this tripod head is impressive. However, the pan motion on this is very hard to turn. Even with the screw loose, I find myself twisting my tripod head off the tripod legs rather than the pan axis when turning the tripod. I'm keeping for now until I find a better alternative. Maybe mine is just faulty.
Terrific little fluid head
Extremely well designed and constructed. Very smooth pan and tilt. It is small and light weight and so will be best with smaller handheld camcorders but also works well with my Canon EOS 80D and 18-55mm kit lens - about 2lbs total.
Tilt is very smooth, pan is disappointingly stiff
The tilt part of the head is a true fluid mechanism. but the pan works on friction - and it's stiff, jerking when beginning a horizontal pan instead of easing smoothly into the move as a fluid head or even a good friction head would. It's a disappointment, considering the build quality is quite nice.
Super for 4/3 video camera and my OG BMPCC
For when your too lazy to use a real tripod, I put this on a MEFOTO mini tripod, Super for 4/3 video camera and my OG BMPCC
Does provide fluid motion.
I use this on tabletop tripods but have to hold the tripod to counteract the resistance of the fluid head.
