This 6" Traditional Dobsonian Telescope Kit from Sky-Watcher is simple to operate, yet provides great views of some of the most beautiful and exciting objects in the night sky. The Optical Tube Assembly features a bright 152mm aperture, and comes with two eyepieces and a finderscope. The base uses Teflon bearings and a proprietary tension control handle for smooth slewing to celestial objects.
The 6" Traditional Dobsonian Optical Tube Assembly from Sky-Watcher uses a parabolic primary mirror design, constructed of borosilicate, then polished and coated with Sky-Watcher's proprietary Radiant Aluminum Quartz (RAQ), producing a remarkable 94% reflectivity. Sky-Watcher S11600 Reviews
Good
Such nice. Very wow. Many good. :)
Bigger than I thought it'd be
This will probably sound dumb, but it's bigger than I thought it would be. I've only had a chance to use it twice because it's been so cold, but I took it out last night to look at the moon and the view was stunning. Crisp detail on the craters. Feb is not a good month for planets this year so the only other thing I've had a chance to observe was Orion's Nebula, which will be more satisfying once I get some more powerful lenses. I'm hoping anyway. This is my first telescope so I don't have much to go on, but I love it. The four stars is mostly for the fact that I haven't had it very long and I'm a novice and don't really know what I'm talking about. My only criticism is it's awkward to move. It's not too heavy but the placement of the handle doesn't really help much. I may end up adding my own handles on the sides. What I do know about is . I bought the wrong telescope before this one and they made the exchange with no hassle and the customer service was great. I've been a customer for almost 20 years and haven't been disappointed yet.
Great Entry Level Telescope
I am new to astronomy, and after a lot of research I settled on this dobsonian. I was cautiously optimistic about how well it would preform, and I was absolutely blown away by it. It is incredibly easy to set up and use. The first night I used it, I spent a couple of hours looking at the moon and was able to track down Saturn. I bought an astrophotography camera and it works well with this telescope for capturing planets. I would highly recommend this telescope for a beginner starting out.
Simple, well-made Newtonian at a fantastic price
When it comes to value, this Sky-Watcher Dob is ideal (for less than $500--what a deal!). Plus has the 150P model in stock as of this writing while so many online sellers are out-of-stock or back ordered. Fast, safe delivery by is a big plus. The 150P 6 is large enough to gather light for quality deep sky observing, and light enough to lift and transport--but the tube is longer than it looks in photos. Collimation was nearly spot on from the factory (you still should inspect the imaging before using). The focuser is a tad wobbly, but you can work with it or replace it with a better device down the road. A good starter 'scope; even good for an advanced amateur since an 8 doesn't really add that much clarity in my opinion. And if you're inventive, you could do lunar astrophotography but it's not ideal without a clock drive. You'll have to learn the night sky to use the 150P as there are no pricey go to electronics with the 150P. Oh, like so many telescopes today, this is manufactured in the PRC but by a well-respected Chinese manufacturer founded by an astronomer.
