Popular as an initial Colette Series acquisition for professional audio engineers and training institutes, the matte gray Schoeps Colette CMC 1 L Microphone Amplifier and MK 5 Omni Capsule Set is an ultracompact, space-saving Colette Series modular microphone bundle that includes the CMC 1 L (mini LEMO output) miniature microphone amplifier, MK 5 switchable omnidirectional/cardioid mic capsule, K 5 LU LEMO to XLR 3-pin male cable, SGC miniature stand mount with swivel, B 5 solid-foam popscreen, and a premium case for secure transport and storage.
Nearly an all-purpose capsule recommended for those starting out with the Colette Series, the MK 5 is a true, one-diaphragm system with mechanical switching between omnidirectional and cardioid patterns. The result in each setting is like an independent microphone capsule with the same quality as the MK 2S / MK 4, and very similar (though not identical) frequency- and polar-response characteristics.
Thanks to the inclusion of the ultracompact CMC 1 L amplifier, this bundle serves as a lighter and smaller alternative to the acclaimed CMC 6 amplifier, without compromising sonic performance.
The matte gray Schoeps CMC 1 L is a miniature Colette Series microphone amplifier offering uncompromising high fidelity in a lightweight and ultracompact form factor for studio recording, broadcast, and live stage applications. Presented as an alternative to the renowned Schoeps CMC 6 amplifier, the CMC 1 L is compatible with all existing MK mic capsules and Colette active accessories (all available separately).
It features a balanced mini LEMO output, compliance with 12V or 48V phantom power, and low current consumption. Its Schoeps RFI Shield provides high immunity from RF interference for a clean, low-noise signal. The CMC 1 L supports the high maximum SPLs tolerated by the various MK mic capsules (available separately). A stand adapter and a 16.4' mini LEMO to XLR 3-pin male adapter cable are supplied with the CMC 1 L.
The matte gray MK 5 Microphone Capsule from Schoeps offers 2 selectable directional patterns, but uses only 1 membrane.
In its omnidirectional setting, the MK 5 Microphone Capsule is a true pressure transducer with smooth, extended low-frequency response, low sensitivity to most wind and breath noise, handling noise or mechanical vibration, and no proximity effect.
In its cardioid setting, the MK 5 Microphone Capsule retains its full directionality even at very low frequencies. The benefits of this design in purity and clarity of sound are immediately audible. Additionally, the MK 5 has a slight high-frequency emphasis.
This gray Solid Foam Teardrop Popscreen from Schoeps is an acoustic foam close-speech popscreen intended for use with Schoeps Colette Series microphones, but compatible with other microphone capsules as well. It provides sufficient protection at normal speaking distances for cardioids and other directional capsules, especially when speech capsules are used. With omnidirectional capsules, it may even be used outdoors in light wind. This popscreen has minimal effect on sound quality.
