SanDisk Professional Enterprise-Class Externa... Reviews
Dissapointed
I bought 2 of these drives because I was rushing into a big video project and my usual go-to brand was sold out. I figured the SanDisk Pro and G-Tech drives would be similar & reliable... I mean it's essentially the same drive, different housing, right? I've been extremely disappointed. This drive constantly goes to sleep while I'm editing and color corrections and sometimes completely logs off. It's not like it's a bad drive that needs to be returned, it's just extremely frustrating and adds time to my turn arounds. Been looking for fixes online and haven't found anything. If you're a pro I would steer clear. I won't buy them again.
Internal power supply can fail
With the new design of the G-Drive they moved the power inside of the drive inclouser so you no longer have a power brick. I have had 2 of these new drives power fail.
Ejects it's self randomly - be careful!
Thought this was a nice update to the G-Drive series but definitely not the same quality. The enclosure is part plastic (the dark parts) which makes me question how stackable these drives are and it's a dead-end drive, meaning you lose a port by plugging this drive in because there's no passthrough port like on a TB3 drive. Additionally, the drive seems to randomly disconnect and reconnect on Mac when the computer goes into standby. I return to the computer and there's like, 25 notifications telling me the drive was improperly disconnected. I wouldn't trust my data with it.
Nope
I have owned this hard drive for about 2 months now; this morning it failed on me and I lost 2 months of work. I am now seeing that there are a lot of other negative reviews saying that these things are crashing, which is very disappointing to see from a brand like SanDisk. Not sure if I will be able to recover the lost data, but at least this is still under manufacturer warranty.
Great
Quieter than I expected.
multiple failed drives
We have 6 of these 22TB HDDs. One completely died, and 2 of them randomly shuts off while we're editing. Hard to say if its a bad batch or faulty in general. I would avoid the 22TB versions. We've had no issues with the 6tb and 12tb.
Stay away from this product.
Stay away. I barely used this device and when I first begin to by transferring my essential files to it. Once the transfer is complete, the drive now gives error messages. Now I'm out my important files.
DO NOT BUY THESE DRIVES.
Hey guys, I rarely write reviews, but these drives have major issues. I've used G tech hardrives for the last 10+ years and havent had any problems. The new Sandisk branded drives are not the same. I bought 2x 12TB drives, one for a master, one for a BU. Both drives eject randomly and cause premiere to crash. The on/off power button does not work which is very strange. These are not a safe solution for media storage.
