Rosco Custom Glass Gobo Overview

The Rosco Original 3-Color Custom Glass Gobo is an effective way to meet the imaging demands of a client or institution. Multiple screening processes meet the needs of the artwork, glass gobo type, and the specific projector in use. Rosco can create custom gobos from 4mm (0.157") images on up, and since Rosco makes its own dichroic glass, it allows stacking layers of the glass with custom-etched patterns on top of each other for 1.9mm color gobos. The E-size gobo has an outer diameter of 1.47" and is designed to fit mini ellipsoidals.

This gobo requires specifications outlining the user's requirements, as well as a provided image or design or approval of a design by Rosco.

Multiple Screening Processes

Through Rosco's innovative developments in technology and unique manufacturing methods, it has raised the bar in gobo production. Custom glass gobos are designed to produce the highest quality resolution for any unique design. Production methods offer flexibility for the desired artwork, projector, and glass gobo type, allowing Rosco to customize each gobo from a 4mm image area and up.

Rosco Manufactures Its Own Dichroic Glass

Dichroic glass is the basic building block for colored glass gobos, and Rosco is the only gobo maker that manufactures its own dichroic glass. This enables Rosco to offer color consistency from gobo to gobo and from batch to batch, which means the gobo that's made today will match any replacement gobos made in the future. Rosco is also able to manipulate the CMYK color palette of the gobo, which provides unequaled color flexibility to satisfy the most particular requirements. Rosco can also produce unique lighting effects such as metallic and pastel colors.

Ultrathin Layers

Custom-colored glass gobos are made by stacking layers of dichroic glass with custom-etched patterns on top of each other to subtractively mix the colors needed for the image. Because Rosco manufactures its own dichroic glass, it's capable of producing ultrathin CMYK layers to assemble extremely thin gobos. Rosco Custom Glass Gobos are as thin as 1.1 mm for B&W and one-color gobos, and 1.9mm for multicolor gobos. This is particularly important because the ultrathin glass gobos offer a superior focal plane for excellent image projection using the optical capabilities of modern gobo projectors and moving lights.
