Rode MAGCLIP GO Reviews
The strongest light weight magnet I have ever seen.
This clips on amazingly easy and isn't going to drop the transmitter, (mic) Evan if you have a heavy jacket lapel.
Nice improvement.
It is a VERY strong magnet. It allows me to tuck this discretely into the neck of my shirt, and it holds more securely. Using just the clip meant that my wireless Go would sometimes flop around if my collar is a bit loose. Using the magnet means I can tuck it a bit lower and it does not fall around. Glad I bought it.
Very fragile and overpriced for what it is
The magnet can easily shatter if dropped, or if another magnet quickly snaps onto it. Mine broke within 5 mins after opening the box. For this price, I think it should come with two sets of clips and magnets for Rode Go II users, or to have a spare when a magnet inevitably breaks.
Great product.
Wonderful idea and great product.
Magnets are Very Strong and Breakable
Purchase 2 of these. I unpackaged them and attached one magnet to the clip. I was in the process of attaching the other magnet to its clip when, because of the strength of the magnet, the magnet and clip flew out of my fingers and hit the other magnet and clip just a few inches away. One magnet broke into about 6 pieces so handle with care.
super convenient
The magnet is surprisingly strong and makes it easy to attach to subjects in otherwise awkward situations.
Ok
If two magnets get stuck together they are really hard to separate. They work ok for standing still, but not for recording people on the move. Lost two magnets within 10 minutes while recording at a playground. Also, the mics are awkward and heavy when clipped/magneted to light clothing. After I Iost these, I got the lav mic attachments which work much better.
Good but...
Rode's Go II mics are dependable and versatile, however the the alligator clip doesn't extend as wide I'd like. I picked up the MagClip Go as an option to have in my gear bag if I don't want to use a lab or advertise Rode gear in the shot. The clip does that, but the downside, like the transmitter and receiver this thing is tiny and light - easy to drop and lose. I kept the white cardboard section that it comes with in the box, and it makes it easier to find in the mic bag - magnet on side and clip on the other. The other downside is the price - $20 for a small magnet and piece of metal, c'mon Rode! My guess is that you could mass manufacture it for $2 - geez.
