V-RAPTOR [X] 8K VV Camera pairs the strengths of the
RED DIGITAL CINEMA V-RAPTOR line with the global shutter of the KOMODO camera and a native Nikon Z mount offering adjustable AF speeds, fluid iris control, and customizable lens responses.
Optimal 8K Resolution Performance
The powerful, all-purpose V-RAPTOR [X] Z Mount incorporates 8K resolution, crisp global shutter, optimal low-light performance, and high frame rate functions in a compact, feature-rich body weighing just over 4 lb.
New Large-Format Standard
This DSMC3 flagship camera is the first large-format global shutter camera and the first to offer RED's Global Vision with a suite of tools that provide unprecedented flexibility and dynamic range. Key features shared with the original V-RAPTOR include a single CFexpress Type B card slot that supports up to 8K120 capture and two unique 12G-SDI monitoring outputs. The V-RAPTOR [X] Z Mount also features a redesigned sensor cavity that mitigates stray light and improves contrast, plus improved in-camera audio preamps.
Advanced, Intelligent Focus
In-camera processing and on-sensor, enhanced phase-detection autofocus plus all-new face detection enables the V-RAPTOR [X] Z Mount to offer versatility and confidence to all levels of filmmakers.
- The V-RAPTOR [X] Z Mount's reinforced, locking Nikon Z lens mount has advanced iris, autofocus, and lens response capabilities.
- It offers toolless switching to additional RED mounts and compatibility with third-party adapters for a wide range of lenses. Use the V-RAPTOR [X] Z Mount with the RED Z to PL adapter for compatibility with upcoming /i PL lenses.
The 17+ stops of dynamic range in standard modes and up to 20+ with Extended Highlights enable the V-RAPTOR [X] Z Mount to deliver both smooth highlight roll-off and uncompromising low-light performance.
The Phantom Track function streamlines any virtual production workflow using GhostFrame or frame remapping, capturing distinct R3D clips for each subframe slice in addition to enabling monitoring of either slice live on set over each SDI output. This enables your director and talent to work with a green screen background while the VF/X team can simultaneously view the frame without having to view or lock in that background. Phantom Track can also be used when applying dedicated ad overlays during a live broadcast.
Unmatched frame-rate performance enables V-RAPTOR [X] Z Mount users to leverage creative elements like time-lapse or speed ramping or to extract ultrasharp still photos. Frame rate options include 8K, 6K, 4K, and 2K selections.
This camera's large-format global shutter accurately captures your subject's motion, no matter how fast they're moving, with no distortion or Jello-like effects sometimes found with a rolling shutter. With the global shutter, you can capture every movement, flash, and burst without compromising image quality, dynamic range, or flexibility in post-production.
RED's Global Vision suite of tools uses the global shutter sensor to offer even greater flexibility and ease of use throughout your production process. These tools include Extended Highlights for increasing detail, producing finer HDR finishes or softer, more subtle highlight roll-offs when using SDR. Extended Highlights also offers 3+ stops of additional dynamic range, maintaining color and detail even within extreme highlights.
The integrated side display provides intuitive, easily navigable, comprehensive control, including in-camera format selections, customized buttons, and more.
Virtual Production/Advanced Connectivity
The V-RAPTOR [X] Z Mount uses a DSMC3 platform to offer advanced connectivity solutions like remote control, remote monitoring, in-camera Frame.io integrations, AWS (Amazon Web Services) direct upload, the RED Connect module for live 8K R3D video over IP or live 4K via SMPTE ST 2110, and more. These enhanced features put the V-RAPTOR [X] Z Mount at the forefront of technology used for virtual production.
Live Streaming and Control Pro App
Connect the V-RAPTOR [X] Z Mount using fiber cable and the RED CONNECT module to live stream 8K full-resolution, cinematic video over an IP network. Use the RED Control Pro iOS/Android app and the all-new RED CONNECT technology to unlock the V-RAPTOR [X] Z Mount's capabilities.
All-New Audio Architecture
Newly engineered audio hardware provides cleaner, clearer audio when using external microphones with the V-RAPTOR [X] Z Mount.
Designed with water and dust-resistant materials in critical areas of its body, the V-RAPTOR [X] Z Mount is suitable for a wide variety of environments. However, it is not waterproof and should be handled like other high-end electronics.
RED DIGITAL CINEMA 2TB PRO CFexpress 2.0 Type B Memory Card
Certified for RED V-RAPTOR and KOMODO-X camera systems, the
2TB PRO CFexpress 2.0 Type B Memory Card from
RED offers protection from overheating, operates with a reduced power draw, and helps to ensure high bitrate capture. This card can capture all frame rates and resolutions, including Full HD and raw 4K, 6K, 8K, and 12K video. It features a capacity of 2TB and uses the PCIe 3.0 x2 bus to deliver maximum read/write speeds of 1785 MB/s.
Designed and manufactured by Angelbird for RED, the PRO CFexpress 2.0 Type B series has been engineered with protection against shock, dust, water, temperature extremes, and x-rays, and has an MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) rating of 2.4 million hours. Included is lifetime data protection and an activation code for the full limited 3-year warranty. To receive the full limited warranty, the product needs to be registered on the Angelbird Personal Service Portal within 30 days after purchase. If not registered within this period, the market-specific legal guarantee period comes into force.

The CFexpress Card Reader from RED allows for the fast ingestion of the RED PRO 660GB CFexpress media card on systems that support 20 Gb/s USB 3.2 Gen 2x2. Built with a USB Type-C interface, power is received through the USB bus, meaning that no external power sources are required. Designed in conjunction with battery-maker Core SWX, the compact REDVOLT BP is compatible with select other cameras when used with a full-size V-mount adapter.

RED DIGITAL CINEMA Compact Dual Battery Charger (V-Mount)
Charge two V-mount batteries for use with a DSMC3 cinema camera such as the V-RAPTOR 8K VV while on location with the RED Compact Dual V-Mount Battery Charger. Taking advantage of the same technology built into the larger fleet chargers, this compact charger can charge two V-mount REDVOLT MICRO-V or REDVOLT XL-V batteries at a 3A rate. Designed and manufactured in partnership with Core SWX, the charger can charge two REDVOLT MICRO-V 98Wh batteries in less than five hours. A power cable is included.

RED DIGITAL CINEMA DSMC3 RED Touch 7.0" LCD with Rigid Hinge
Add a direct-mount onboard monitor to your DSMC3 camera rig with the DSMC3 RED Touch 7.0" LCD Monitor with Rigid Hinge from RED DIGITAL CINEMA. The RED Touch features daylight viewing, a wide 100% DCI-P3 color gamut, and touchscreen control for DSMC3 cameras, such as the V-RAPTOR 8K VV. The rigid hinge and arm enable you to apply more pressure for positioning the Touch for optimal viewing. The Touch monitor features 1920 x 1200 resolution, a 1250:1 contrast ratio, and 1300 cd/m² brightness for high-quality imaging.
This monitor attaches directly to your DSMC3 BRAIN using its Pogo mount, which provides video, data, and power to the monitor from the camera. If you need to use the Pogo mount for another accessory, the monitor also features a locking USB-C connector that alternately allows you to pass video, data, and power to the camera. Note that the DSMC3 Touch monitor is not compatible with DSMC, DSMC2, RED RANGER, or KOMODO camera systems.

Use the V-RAPTOR Tactical Top Plate with Battery Adapter Plus from RED DIGITAL CINEMA to both securely mount a V-mount battery on your V-RAPTOR BRAIN and power select camera accessories. This plate provides one D-Tap and two 2-pin LEMO ports, a pogo connector, an SMBUS pass-through, an E-Fuse safety system, and multiple 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 accessory mounting threads. A 6-pin DC input port can be used to power your camera and accessories simultaneously.

Battery Mount and Power Outputs
This top plate and battery plate combo enables you to securely mount a larger battery on your V-RAPTOR, providing longer running times and accessory power. Ports include a 6-pin input, a D-Tap output, and two 2-pin outputs.
The top plate and the front cheese plate both provide a pogo connector and multiple 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 accessory threads.
RED DIGITAL CINEMA V-RAPTOR Top Handle with Extensions
The RED DIGITAL CINEMA V-RAPTOR Top Handle with Extensions provides a complete modular top handle solution for the V-RAPTOR, allowing for lightweight or extended wraparound style configurations. It features a dedicated start/stop button, ergonomic bocote wood inlays, and multiple 3/8"-16 and 1/4"-20 mounting points. Additionally, this includes the 1", 3", and 5" top handle extension pieces, an elbow piece and a 15mm Monitor Mount.
Note:
The V-RAPTOR Top Handle is not compatible with DSMC, DSMC2, RED RANGER or KOMODO camera systems.
V-RAPTOR Tactical Top Plate is required to secure Top Handle Support Arm to the camera.
RED DIGITAL CINEMA V-RAPTOR Expander Blade
Mount the RED V-RAPTOR Expander Blade to your V-Raptor camera to gain video, power, and communication ports, enabling a wide choice in how you configure your camera for professional applications. The Expander Blade attaches to your camera via the camera's 9-pin EXT port and is supported by the included ARCA plate.
Once attached, the Expander plate provides a BNC connector (Genlock video), 5-pin connector for timecode, 4-pin connector for RED CTRL, and 3-pin Fischer for Run/Stop. Please note that the 3-pin Run/Stop is only for trigger, and it does not supply power.

The V-RAPTOR Expander Module is for DSMC3 cameras only, and it is not compatible with DSMC, DSMC2, RED RANGER, or KOMODO camera systems.
RED DIGITAL CINEMA V-RAPTOR Quick Release Platform Pack
Designed for V-RAPTOR camera users, the RED V-RAPTOR Quick Release Platform Pack is a sturdy yet compact QR plate release system for mounting and balancing your V-Raptor on a tripod. The platform, or baseplate, features 15mm LWS rod clamps and includes two 15mm rods, allowing you to use standard lens supports and accessories such as matte boxes, follow focus units, lens motors, and more with your V-RAPTOR. The platform slides onto the included dovetail plate and has a lever lock to clamp it in place once you have found the balance point you want.
The platform has a lever lock for clamping the included Arca plate in place, as well as a spring-loaded safety catch to help prevent the Arca plate from accidentally sliding off the platform. The dovetail plate has multiple 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 thre
