Really Right Stuff RRS-9000046 Overview
The L-Plate Set for Nikon Z9 from Really Right Stuff is a modular design composed of an Arca-type compatible base plate and L-component that facilitate easier, more stable switching between horizontal and vertical shooting orientations. Laser-engraved center marks on the back of the plate help to keep the camera centered when working atop a tripod.
The L-Plate maintains complete access to the battery door and the camera's ports, all without obstruction of the camera's LCD monitor. Both parts can be separated slightly and retightened with the included hex key if more room is needed for your tethering or cable release. In addition, this CNC-machined plate has a durable Type II black anodized finish, and a threaded accessory mounting socket allows you to attach a camera strap and carry the camera in comfort.

Really Right Stuff RRS-9000046 Reviews
Amazing Quality - Very Heavy
Simply amazing quality and thats why you are spending top dollar for this unit. I like sliding the side arm out a little and use it as an additional handgrip when using my camera or to provide a little more access to ports. The quality is amazing and typical of RRA. Its beefy and heavy but it will outlast me and my kids no doubt!
Haven't found a perfect Z9 L yet...
I already had the SmallRig L plate, but having decided to invest in a QD strap, I bought this (at several times the price) to get a QD socket. It *is* robust, and unlike the Kirk version the QD socket is in a position where the strap can stay connected when shooting in portrait. It also won't scratch the camera when extending it to give access to the ports, unlike the SmallRig - and it seems a better fit. Still, you *have* to extend it, where the SmallRig and Kirk have room for the port doors with the L closed, it slightly fouls the cover for the 10-pin socket, and it's a little in the way for the AF button (although it doesn't completely block it) - not that I care, because my left hand is usually holding a lens anyway. Without extending the L, the LCD can't tilt to the left cleanly - also true of the competing plates, for some reason. The cross-bar above the battery probably adds a little stiffness, but the whole vertical is very thick, and is a bit shorter than the SmallRig, giving a bit less for a clamp to grip. The L is chamfered more than the SmallRig (the corner is cut over the battery), but less rounded on the corner that bangs you in the belly if you use the QD socket. The lack of QD on the vertical is disappointing (if, like me, you don't trust yourself to connect things properly and want two points of contact); I use a Kirk QD clamp on the vertical, but it's an unnecessary and bulky extra. The base is rounded and comfortable, but very thick, making it hard to reach the more distant controls in portrait. It's probably the best L-plate for the Z9 (SmallRig has no QD, Kirk has QD in a dumb place and lacks an anti-rotation pin, both slide over the camera base and might scratch it), but it makes a big, heavy camera even bulkier and doesn't quite get out of the way. Fingers crossed for a v2. Although at this price I doubt I'll upgrade.
Z9 L Bracket
Fits perfectly. Zero play, no flex, magnets holding the Allen key are strong, very secure for Z9 camera. Using Peak design handgrip with this L Bracket is actually more comfortable due to the location of the strap connection on the l bracket. Very happy with purchase and impressed with the quality!
Z9 L bracket
RRS L bracket is the best git for mu hand and the camera. Easy access to all things I need. I trued two different off brand brackets; both were not acceptable or of the same quality. Too bulky.
Well built
Works great.
" you get what you pay for "
I had purchased another brand for my z9 and paid less than half of the rrs. It always felt like it wasn't secure on my tripod. I paid almost 6,000.00 for the z9 and figured what's another 250.00 to make sure it's secure. Let me tell ya, this L bracket is one of the best made brackets I've ever used and it's actually lighter in weight than the cheaper ones. It's a perfect fit and actually a no brainer for an expensive investment like a camera. So, just buy it and you can thank me later!
Great quality
Slightly too expensive but compared to what it's securing it's still acceptable. Very well made, everything smooth and very strong. Not a problem holding the camera with the L-plate attached even in portrait orientation. Z9 with one card, Nikon Z 24-70 f/2.8 and the modular plate is 2.5kg. I'm happy with my purchase even after paying shipping and tax and duty for delivery in Europe.
RRS L plate for Nikon Z9
Really nicely made L plate. Expensive but very well done. There's a place to secure the Allen Wrench, very handy and the fit and finish are spectacular!
