PTZCam UV510A Reviews
Buyer Beware - Non-standard default IP
--NOTE TO FUTURE BUYERS-- A local network set with a 192.168.1.xxx IP range WILL NOT recognize these cameras at first. You must reconfigure your network, set a static IP (removing your dunamic IP settings) to set the new range to be 192.168.5.xxx and then access them. You can then go in and change the camera's default IP to a 192.168.1.xxx range to better match your network. This was a hassle, and the poor instructions for doing so in the manual, and lack of support form both and the PTZCam company was enough for me to return them and buy better cameras from a known company. I purchased these thinking this was a great deal hoping for a simple plug-and-play into my existing workflow... unfortunately this was not the case. I'm not a network administrator so I know there are things I don't know, but i'm also not entirely in the dark with networking so for me to have to alter my DNS settings on my LAN in order to configure these caused a bit of anxiety. Although I did return thesem I have since been told that the 192.168.5.xxx address is still considered a standard class c address, it was however, not on my radar as a step needed to set these devices up on my existing LAN. In order to access the cameras with the controller, NDI, or even a direct connect computer, you will have to access your network configurations and alter your Dynamic IP to a static IP and force a new subnet mask and default gateway. I have been reassured from that these have been tested and there is no malware or spyware, but altering an IP range for my network to give a camera access just screamed Red Flag to me so I did return them. Another red flag... the PTZCam brand is just a whitelable name given to these Minrray cameras of the same model number. This seemed to confuse a string of employees at that kept sending me to PTZOptics for help... This is NOT a PTZOptics camera, and the Minrray help support phone line is non-existant. I would seriously reconsider purchasing this brand/bundle before you find yourself in a similar situation as I have.
