ProMediaGear GT2 Overview
The GT2 Tomahawk from ProMediaGear attaches to Arca-compatible ball heads and holds a telephoto lens, providing gimbal movement for the lens. It has two built-in Arca-type dovetails at the base for attaching it to ball heads and has an Arca-type clamp with a quick release plate on top to hold your lens. Your long telephoto lens can be attached via a tripod foot.
Between the tilt adjustment of the Arca-type clamp and the movement of your ball head, your setup will provide you with full tilt and swivel movement. There are knobs to loosen and tighten movement, and a bubble level for checking balance. The bottom and side of the base also feature 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 threads besides the built-in dovetails. These allow you to mount the GT2 on tripods, monopods, and other supports. The GT2 is made of aluminum and has stainless steel sealed bearings. In the Box
- ProMediaGear GT2 Tomahawk Gimbal Attachment for Ball Heads
- Arca-Type Quick Release Plate with 1/4"-20 Screw
- 2 x Allen Key

ProMediaGear GT2 Reviews
Tomahawk GT2
My english is not very good but about my tomahawkGT2 it is expensif for me because i live in Canada ( quebec ) but it is so well made and expertly machined whit sharp tension adjustement it worth the price I use as side wall mont on my monopod that is a perfect match I realy enjoy my new attachement combine with my ball head..By the way it's nice to have a free expedited shipping...
Well made; doesn't fit camera with battery grip
I like ProMedia gear but this model doesn't work with a camera that has a battery grip and a lens foot that is close to the camera. In my case a Z9 with Z100-400. The base prevents the camera from pointing up as it hits the grip.
Light, smooth and high quality
I have been using the Tomahawk GT2 on a monopod and I have to say, it's brilliant. I was expecting the off-axis position of the camera to be an issue but it's not. The tension controls give me a lot of control and the side mount takes off more than half a kilogram compared to the Katana Jr (also a brilliant piece of kit). The side mount actually makes this setup with a monopod, pro body and large telephoto lens very easy to carry over my shoulder while hiking longer distances. Everything is silky smooth and a pleasure to shoot with. I'm very pleased with my investment.
Most versatile on the market
Not only is this well made and smooth, it is extremely versatile. It is the best monopod head made in my opinion, and it can be put on a ballhead and used on a tripod as a panning side-mount gimbal. Love it.
Perfect Gimbal Mount
I need to reduce weight for travel so this is the perfect compromise to full Gimbal Head If I need full Gimbal motion and I don't have a ballhead, I attach this to an RRS Pan Head with a clamp
