Pentax FA 43mm f/1.9 Limited Overview
Based on the FA Limited Lens series, renowned for their meticulous attention in every detail, the silver HD Pentax-FA 43mm f/1.9 Limited lens from Pentax is a normal-length prime well-suited for everyday shooting applications. Its bright f/1.9 maximum aperture excels in low-light conditions and also affords greater control over depth of field for isolating subject matter. An eight-blade rounded diaphragm also contributes to a smooth and pleasing bokeh quality. This lens features a PENTAX high-grade HD coating for exceptional image rendition, which controls ghosting and flare to realize high contrast imagery with accurate, neutral color balance, plus protective SP coating on the front lens surface to repel dust, stains, and debris. The barrel, hood, and cap are all made of high-grade aluminum, meticulously machined for an attractive appearance and beautiful texture, and the lens barrel features a mount pointer made of Shippoyaki enamelware.

Pentax FA 43mm f/1.9 Limited Reviews
Awesome lens
This is a very unique lens. It's great for street and portrait photography. It's crystal clear.
NICE LITTLE COMPACT LENS...WITH ISSUES
I recently purchased this lens based on the many positive reviews. I am using on a Pentax K-1. This lens is very small, in fact, it might be too small for the K-1. The lens does spin when focussing which makes it very awkward to find a place for your stabilizing hand when holding the bulky K-1. That is the only negative issue I have about this lens. Image-wise, this thing is a very sharp little gem with really nice bokeh. Images are full of great detail and colors with a 3D effect. It's really really sharp! For the price it's a no-brainer.
Lovely lens
This joins my 31mm and 77mm beauties to complete my "three Amigos" FA collection. ?First impressions are that it has the same pixie dust as the other two, delivering crisp, sharp and rich colored images from the moment you see them on the LCD screen. ?Using it on my K1 brings back the feeling of those long gone film days when all I had was a M 50mm/LX combo, and loved it as much, if not more, than all the expensive gear I've had since then.
Excellent lens
Like all the limited lenses, the construction and feel are excellent. It is a good focal length for an APS camera. So far the images appear excellent. My only quibble is the screw-on lens hood and slip-on lens cap. The hood did not come off the lens easily, either when I first took it out of the box or when I wanted to quickly remove it to put on a polarizer. I have left the hood off and put a UV filter and a clip-on lens cap on it. (I've done that with my other limited lenses as well. With time the slip-on caps loosen.) That's a side issue, however. The lens is very nice.
Favorite Focal Length
Beautiful lens; one part of the three FA Limited Series that are all wonderful. Favorite lens(es) that I've owned. The 43mm does lack in performance on the edges compared to the 31mm and 77mm but for half the price it is an excellent walk around and general purpose lens. I keep it on my Pentax K-1 and then switch to the 31/77 when I need to use them.
Hard to beat
I've been using this lens on my K-3 as a normal lens and it hasn't let me down. It works great as a 'walk-around' lens on my trips into Atlanta and also for landscapes in a nearby Nature Preserve. Sharpness and colors are super and I'm having trouble finding a reason to take it off my camera.
Reputation Deserved
Everything they say about this lens on a full-frame Pentax is true. It really does have special rendering. But Pentax needs to improve its quality control. My lens has a very small but visible metal fibre, I guess from the machining of the lens body, on one of the inner lenses. It does not appear to affect the image quality, so I guess I will live with it. But this should not happen on a lens of this grade.
Great angle
Its one of the best 3 pentax lenses. Especially on full frame camera, I could use it most of the time. You can use it for landscape, full body or head portraits. It would be great with a wider aparture. I am very happy to have this lens...
