Featuring a fast USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C connector, this bus-powered 8TB 3D NAND flash solid-state drive can transfer data at up to 572 MB/s. Its aluminum enclosure includes an anti-slip rubber casing to make it shock, drop, and water resistant. As Advertised, Fast and Small...
The drive is exactly as advertised, fast (but not the fastest) and small (but not the smallest) form factor. Worth noting, I opted for the Bumper / Dura version because it adds very little size or weight but does secure the drive on my desk and protects my desk from scratches, would recommend teh bumper / Dura version. The SSD drive is used primarily for daily backup purposes and replaced a 5400 rpm HDD drive. The speed differences are incredible, what used to take hours to backup now takes 30 to 40 minutes (i.e., likely a combination of teh HDD's slow speeds and the SSD's fast speed). Would recommend the drive to anyone as it has been solid and done exactly what I need / anted. Would only consider a different SSD drive were one in need of a) the fastest drive there is (though, tis drive IS PLENTY FAST) or the smallest drive there is (though, this drive is relatively small).
Small, fast and rugged
I have two of these that use for photo storage and backup for Lightroom work at home and while traveling. Like the fact that they are SSD and less susceptible to shock as I sometimes carry them in my backpack.
Out of the box storage
I was worried that I was not backing up my computer.s hard drive that contained all my important data and the last twenty years of digital photos. I took the Oyen drive out of its box, attached it to my Macintosh and turned on the time machine program that comes with the Mac. Worked like magic! This solid state drive is small, works off the computers power and reliably backs up all the files that I hold dear to my heart.
Compact and solidly built
It's the perfect size and packs a big punch with it's speed and size. Very versatile and easy to use and setup. My first time using an Oyen product, but loving it so far!
Perfect for photo-files backup when traveling.
Photographers like me use multiple backup drives for reasonable redundancy. But this drive is the one you want to keep when you're away from your home or office computer. It's compact, rugged with very fast read and write speeds. This is important to me because I always have a full set of my best images with the latest edit updates as l copy and review times require minimal computer time.
Pint Sized Heavyweight
If you need to quickly and inexpensively add 2T of external storage to your PC, this little SSD does the trick. I am on Win-10. Plug into USB-3 port, drive is immediately recognized and ready for use. Default file format is the old slow FAT. In File Explorer, right click on new SSD drive, left click on "Format", select "File system" = "NTFS", left click on "Start". Now you are ready to go.
Works flawlessly
It took a while to be willing to bite the bullet and pay for this but I'm so glad I did. I'm so grateful to have confidence in a hard drive that won't fail! Read/write speeds are very good.
Fast, Quiet
This is replacing a spinning platter for my Time Machine backup. It is very fast, compared to what I am used to. Since it is a SSD it is very quiet. It does not get hot and takes up such a tiny amount of space. I can travel with it with my laptop so I will never be without Time Machine coverage. I formatted it APFS as soon as I plugged it in, which was a quick process.
