NiSi True Color Variable ND 1-5 Stops Overview
Enjoy finer exposure control with minimal color shift by adding a 77mm True Color ND-VARIO Pro Nano 1 to 5-Stop Variable ND Filter from NiSi to your kit. These filters are designed to reduce exposure while maintaining "True Color" with minimal color shift. Their 1 to 5-stop ND range has hard stops at each end that will ensure the "X" effect will not appear in your images. Being able to seamlessly adjust exposure will ensure the images are being captured at their best quality.
The filter is made of high-definition optical glass and features NiSi Nano coating that offers anti-reflective properties to reduce flare and ghosting. Also, the filter is water- and oil-resistant to make it easy to clean and shoot in inclement weather. The lens comes with a removable rotating lever for easier operation. The larger, 82mm front filter thread allows an additional filter to be stacked on front of this filter with only a minimal chance of vignetting when used with wide-angle lenses. It is recommended that this filter is used on 35mm (full-frame equivalent, 28mm for APS-C) or longer focal length lenses.

NiSi True Color Variable ND 1-5 Stops Reviews
5-Stop Variable ND Filter (95 mm)
Only used this filter twice, but I haven't detected any trace of color alteration. The printed numbers on the side are a big help to determine just how much adjustment was dialed in, very convenient. I also like the little thumb screw which helps control the way you adjust the variability especially when wearing gloves
So worth it
This is my first variable ND and it immediately proved its worth. Filming outdoors, it's easy to quickly stop down the ND before adjusting exposure in the lens. Affords more flexibility and helps preserve shallow depth of field. Indoors, I use it to expose for practical background lamps or windows so they don't blow out, then light the subject and adjust lens aperture to maintain shallow DOF. Haven't experienced the dreaded X yet. Haven't found the tiny screw-on lever to be necessary yet. Lens cover is just the right amount of snug, and the case must account for a decent fraction of the filter's cost, it's really nice.
Great Glass, Good Value
Super glass, easy usage and excellent anti-reflective coating. Just what I needed. Unlike other brands, this one stops at either end of its scale so that you don't inadvertently go too far. That is huge when you're rushing in the field. Also, I just shot in full-on desert sun without concern about reflection marring my shot. I would definitely buy this again!
Excellent NiSi optical quality, but a few quirks
I bought this variable ND based on online reviews of color fidelity, lack of cross hatching, etc. I haven't tested those features extensive, but so far, so good. I gave it 4 stars because I could not get the post to screw into the hole. It doesn't appear that either thread is damaged, but it just won't catch. Personally, I don't actually care about it that much. Also, I didn't notice that the specs say the front filter thread is 86mm for the 82mm size. I presume NiSi did this because the filter is a little thick and this minimizes vignetting. They include a nice cap for this reason and it even has a notch for the post (apparently added after early reviewers said they cut their own in the cap!). Just something to not overlook. If you really want to stack filters, you would probably put this in front anyway.
Works fine !
...do remember that you can still get 'IR' & 'polarizing' but not the X pattern or color shifts with this VND. I'm using it with the NiSi 82mm HUC PRO Nano IRND filters ( love how they fit ) !
A worthy upgrade
I had gotten by with an older Light Craft Workshop Fader ND for years, but only used it when absolutely neecessary due to the significant color shifting. This NiSi is SO much better in every respect - hard stops [eliminating the chance of any X effect], minimal color shift [if any], and a handy pin to turn the filter. I recommend cutting a notch in the lens cap to allow for leaving the pin attached full time. Works really well with any lens on my Lumix GH5 or S1H. Not the cheapest variable ND, but definitely a good value. No complaints!
NiSi variable ND filter.
Nice and reasonably priced. The only drawback is that I can't use the sunshade with it.
exactly as advertised
As advertised no noticeable color shift. No X pattern either. Pretty much perfect. Also a lot of reviews talk about a notch in the cover being needed for the screw in pin but mine had the notch already so it looks like they updated the design since a lot of the reviews went live.
