MultiCart Micro Glider Reviews
Mighty and Versatel
One of my friends turned me on the to this line of multicarts and I'm so glad he did. He's a sports videographer and travels all over the country with his carrying all of his camera gear. He even bought to attachment carry bag for his light stands. I bought the slightly smaller version and it's really great. The wheels are smooth, it's easy to set up and break down quickly, and it carries A LOT! I'm 6' 1" and I do wish the pull/push handles were a bit taller, but it's not a deal breaker for me. Mighty cart!
Love this Cart!
I'll be honest, the first one had a problem, and I called customer service and they handled it brilliantly, sent me out a new cart right away without any hassle! This thing has been a total blessing. It goes everywhere and saves me so many trips.
Very disappointing quality control
I had high hopes for this R&R cart after seeing other production friends with them. But it couldn't even be assembled. Main problem was the axel is too short for the rear wheel, so there's not enough shaft left to install the cotter pins. Also, the metal at the end of the axel was bent and had burrs, so the wheel wouldn't slide on without force, and would stick. The wheels drag on the side of the frame I'm guessing that's the design that makes it a Ground Glider, as the larger rock and roller carts appear to have clearance between the wheel and the frame. The edges of the grip tape along the trolly edge are coming loose. Frustrating all around. Sending it back.
Returned twice - terrible QC/missing parts
I purchased the slightly more expensive R2 roller for my equipment, knowing that it would be used on the streets of NY. Both times that it arrived, it was impossible to assemble. The first time, the hole for the cotter/split pin had metal inside of it, which means that they didn't fully drill the holes for it. The second time, one of the screws for the wheels had bent threads, so I couldn't assemble it. Additionally, there was a cotter pin missing from the handles. Also - overall, the QC here was missing - the textured tape at the bottom was already peeling off, the paint was scratched and faded at points, and the protective knobs were cracked. Also seems like I was receiving a used product as there were previous holes in the packaging for past staples. While I could get replacement parts, this is symptomatic of a broader QC issue - I wouldn't trust my equipment with this cart. Thanks to for the easy returns.
What you pay for in size.
Given it's price point this is a good cart. I carry a Astra soft 2 lite kit, a Lycos 3 lite hard case, a run bag, large camcorder bag, Sachtler 20 tripod, a light stand or two and 3 Boa sand bags. I Uber XL or Black SUV around NYC so, the light weight cart travels well in those with the gear. The handles are low but manageable. The wheels do not have bearings so, it can take a little effort to push given weight put on it and if you need to wheel over carpet. I WD-40'd the axles but lithium grease might be better. I am putting this in a Pelican 1650 with other gear - to take out of country - so, the shipping company doesn't bust my cart.
Great, sturdy cart. Handles are short.
This cart is sturdy and well-made. It's also light and folds up small, so it's perfect for carting my photo gear around. There are only two issues I have with it. 1) it's kind of awkward folding and unfolding it, although it's not too bad. I would prefer a better way, though, because sometimes I'm fumbling with it. 2) The handles are too short. Even with the taller handle, I have to bend slightly to push or pull the cart. I'm 5'8, so a little taller than average, but still in the average range. The handles should really have a way to extend. Also, I have the handle bag, so when I use this on the long handle, the only other way to push or pull is the short handle which is the perfect height to push for my 4-year-old.
