Mitakon Zhongyi Speedmaster 50mm f/0.95 Overview
Aptly named, the Speedmaster 50mm f/0.95, from Mitakon Zhongyi, is an extra fast normal-length prime lens for Leica M-mount rangefinder cameras. The bright f/0.95 design greatly benefits working in low-light conditions and also offers increased control over depth of field for producing characteristic selective focusing imagery. The optical design includes one extra-low dispersion element, which suppresses color fringing and chromatic aberrations for high clarity and color accuracy. The lens supports rangefinder coupling and its manual focus design permits working with subjects as close as 3.3' away. Also, a nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a smooth bokeh quality.
Normal-length prime is well-suited to everyday shooting with subjects including portraiture, street, landscape, and reportage.
Impressively bright f/0.95 maximum aperture offers great control over depth of field, for isolating subject matter using selective focus, and also benefits working in difficult lighting conditions.
One extra-low dispersion element reduces color fringing and chromatic aberrations in order to realize high clarity and accurate color rendering.
