A Must-Have for smaller production companies
We have had this car mount for about 2 months and have really put it through it's paces. We've loaded it down with different cameras from the Blackmagic Micro Cinema Camera up to the Blackmagic Production camera with a full cage and battery. As many times as we've used it, WE'VE NEVER USED POST STABILIZATION on the footage. That's massively impressive. WE LOVE THIS CAR MOUNT!
Rock Solid
Works great with pretty much every kind of setup we through at it, from GoPros to 5Ds to Ex1/Ex3s. Simple kit, easy to get the hang of and it feels stable, important when you are putting 10k in other gear on the hood of a car.
Pro Car Mount
If you need great looking running footage you need the mount. Triangulate and you can't go wrong holds up to 45LB and the smaller cups are useful for DSLR or GoPro Cameras also get the Magic Arm
Great quick car rig!
Setup of the rig is fast and intuitive. Replaces a full size rig that would take much more time for setup. Suction cups work great and can be used for lighting fixtures as well.. One thing I thought it was missing was a safety harness for the camera, however and easy add on that is a must. Would certainly recommend to anyone.
Worthwhile
This is the best option for any shoot where size, speed, and ease of use is a factor. Setup is a breeze and the ability to use with other heavier rigging is open to those with an imagination.
Built Really Well
For something that isn't mainstream (like the four million DSlR shoulder rigs out there) this is an amazing value. Built solid and heavy, it does what it says it will. Once you have it pre-built, it goes on the car fast and easily, and the main suction cup is the size of a dinner plate so it's really on there. A couple of minor gripes are that we bought the magic riser with it and that wasn't very well thought out. You have to take off the (very well made) ball head, screw on the magic riser and put the ball head on the riser(or have another ball head on there). There are no instructions except a short video but they're nice at Matthews and helpful. The other silly detail is that the bolt that secures the ball head/magic riser to the base plate can't come off unless you take the whole base apart. This sort of negates the potential of the cheese plate. The advantage of the magic riser is the ability to take side view shots, but there seems to be room for some other creative uses. We're hoping that this will work well with the new giant killer Black Magic Camera which will overcome some of the extreme latitude issues that car shots pose. It seems it will easily deal with the increase in weight.In all we're looking forward to getting to try this in a variety of ways as we see what works and what doesn't.
Can hold larger cameras
This is the best car mount I have ever used! Fast set up and built like a tank. after a dozen uses it still looks like new. We bought the magic arm and now we use it for things that we would never attempt with the competitors.
