Manfrotto Solo Background Support System Overview
The Solo Background Support System from Manfrotto has a maximum width of 10' but can be expanded to 16.5' using an optional Lastolite Solo Background Support Extension. A unique facet of this system is the pivoting crossbar that makes mounting and raising a roll of seamless paper or other background a one-person operation. Really easy to use will save hundreds on assistant time.
I will have given it a 5 stars reviews but Lastolite decide to sell it as a kit with the most horrible light stands I ever witness they are worthless.. The other parts are fantastic really easy to use, lifting is like magic very simple. My advice when you use a short roll of paper put 1 clamp on each end so the paper will stop sliding down before you open it. Last, the price is horrible.... Cest la vie!!!
Intuitive and Ingenious
This product was purchased to replace another backdrop that we felt was unstable and unsafe. I am using vinyl backdrops on it, and I will not say it can't support it, but I do feel that the cross bar could have been a bit stronger. The supports were better quality and the backdrop does not sway which was the intent and purpose of replacing the previous one. The design of this is very smart and allows a single person operation with it's pivoting mounts. This reduces time spent in prep and set up and gives users a greater sense of independence and eliminates frustrations.
