Leofoto LH-40 Overview
Securing gear with a knob-driven clamp, the LH-40 Low Profile Ball Head from Leofoto comes with a quick release plate that goes on your camera for easy attachment and detachment while shooting. With a fixed height of 2.7" and a large ball diameter of 1.6", the low-profile design of this ball head allows it to safely support equipment as heavy as 44.1 lb.
The LH-40 is compatible with Arca-type plates and features a bubble level as well as distance markings at the top right next to where the plate is attached. A large knob on the right side is used for panning 360°, with notches on the base enabling 90° tilt in two directions for easy portrait shooting. Independent pan lock and friction control knobs are also available and can be used to easily fine-tune your composition. With a weight of 18.3 oz, the ball head is made of anodized aluminum for durability and goes on any tripod with a 3/8"-16 screw. It features a camouflage finish for improved concealment when shooting wildlife.

The Leofoto Ball Head is manufactured to high standards as evidenced by its smooth and easy operable controls. The separate ball head tension control works well even with a fair amount of weight attached. The bubble level is easy to see and the rotation lock does not shift the head position when tightening. My only minor concern is the D-Ring for tightening the included camera base plate is a little small and hard to grip with aging hands, a small tool solved the problem.... Very satisfied with product and for quick shipping...
Great way to make a switch to Arca Swiss type camera mount
Have used Bogen styled brackets for many many years, but wanted the stability and available accessories provided by the arca swiss mount. This ballhead, works very smoothly, is light and affordable. I was cautious and looked for what some reviewers said wastoo little tolerance in the fine adjustment. My copy had no such issue. Beautiful piece of equipment.

Easy to manipulate.
I am quite pleased with this ballhead. The knobs are large and are easy to loosen and tighten. There has been no drift with my Sigma 160-600 Contemporary lens. I have only used a few times over the past few weeks and expect it to hold up over time.

This is...ummm...very similar to the RRS BH-40. An excellent low profile ball head that locks tight and provides outstanding stability. My one request would be for a clamp rather than a screw to secure the QR plate to the head, but that's really minor.
Leofoto Ball Head
Purchased this head to replace an older slightly worn Manfrotto ball head. The fit and finish are outstanding, all controls work flawlessly. Secure locking is easily accomplished without using excessive force on the controls. My only negative comment is in regard to the supplied camera mounting plate. I find the D-Ring used to tighten the plate to camera tripod socket a bit small for my aging hands, a tool to assist in tightening was needed. Again, this is a minor concern that I thought I would share for folks in a similar situation. The value for dollars spent is very good and of course the good folks at BH Photo performed their excellent service of shipping same day, item arrived properly packaged in two days time. I ordered this item from New Zealand, but when it arrived I found that the main lock knob did not function.
