Best fit yet
I have bought a few lenscoat covers for telephoto lenses, this one is my third. It is the best fit yet among the three and I'd rate it very good. The camo appearance is attractive but the rest of the story is - protection for the lens against scrapes and dirt - keeping the lens cool to the touch in summer and - warm to the touch in winter. ... seems worth the price on such an expensive piece of equipment.
Must have protection.
I've used these on all my big lenses. The fit is near perfect on the Sony 600mm f4, and it's an inexpensive layer of protection for a pricey lens. The digital camo pattern is unobtrusive and cuts across seasons, so that's another plus. Budget for this when you get your lens. Highly recommended.
Good Protection
I do not like the LensCoat lens covers on zooms (like the Sony 100-400 or 200-600). In my experience they tend to separate the fabric from the foam during zoom. However, so far this issue seems to be missing on primes. The reason it is not a 5-star is that the factory Sony lens cap will not fit on the hood with the LensCoat cover on the hood.

This is a full 5 star product, for me. It is, in all fairness, an absolute nightmare to get on the lens in the first place. You *have* to take the foot off and you *have* to wiggle the cover on centimeter by centimeter. So it's not something you can change out willy nilly. That being said, I'm not planning on changing it out. As far as the other reviewers who are complaining about fit/finish, I don't know- maybe I just got lucky? Or LensCoat paid attention and tightened up their QC? Because mine fits pretty spot on and I love the plastic window. I wouldn't wing it with just this in a rain storm or anything, but for light misting/flurries and generalized protection, 100%. Finally, you can absolutely put the stock lens cover over the coat (see photos). And you can flip the hood around into reverse position, and put the lens cover on, so it fits into the backpack properly for transport. It is expensive, in a bubble. But, it's going on a $13,000 lens. I can wing a $100 to not have the giant white beacon scaring off the birds and for the added layer of protection. All in all, extremely pleased.
It's okay, but
I had a Lens Coat for the Sony 200-600 and was not at all satisfied with it's quality or usability. The fabric would unravel, the neoprene would stretch and roll at the edges. I attributed most of the problems to inherent zoom characteristics. Some, but not all, issues resolved with the 600mm prime. Maybe I'm being picky, but I am not a fan.

For me it does not cover all of the len. one of the parts got ripped while trying to put it on. for protecting the len it does the job.
