The Black Series LA-220 V2 Two-Tone FET Studio Condenser Microphone from Lauten Audio is a versatile microphone for studio vocal and instrument recording that offers crisp, modern-sounding recordings with detailed high-end while also offering high- and low-pass filters, allowing you to sculpt a warm, classic tone when old-school vibes are called for. The flexible mic can be used on a wide range of sources including vocals, guitars, strings, overheads, kicks, toms, and percussion.
At its core, the microphone features a 1.25" cardioid condenser capsule with an ultra-low-noise JFET amplifier and a vintage-inspired output transformer. The 120 Hz low-cut filter helps reduce boomy lows or low-end room rumbles, while the 12 kHz high-cut filter helps to tame bright rooms and harsh sources. A spider shockmount is included to insulate the mic from vibrations and handling noise.
Choose between modern clarity and classic warmth using the built-in filters. Is something too bright? Engage the low-pass filter. Too dark? Try the high-pass filter. The LA-220 V2's onboard analog sound shaping eliminates the need for mic swaps and downtime, which means you can focus on the main thingmaking music. Capture vocals with presence and punch or an electric guitar without any annoying high-end sizzle effortlessly.
The LA-220 V2 utilizes the same capsule as its larger tube sibling, the LA-320 V2. Unlike traditional capsule designs, the hand-tuned 32mm transducer naturally imparts gentle compression and balance to any sound source, making it ideal for use in an array of string, percussion, and vocal applications.
Classic Sound without the Signal Chain
The LA-220 isnt flat, it's designed for a musical response and engineered to sound great without the need for an elaborate chain of signal processing. The mic is hand-soldered with high-resolution, low-distortion polypropylene capacitors and resistors, a US-made ultra-low noise JFET, and a vintage-inspired output transformer. The result is a crisp, clear, mix-ready sound.
