Sporting the company's classic orange interior color scheme, this K-Tek Stingray Junior X is a professional audio bag designed for use with ultracompact field mixer/recorder models such as Zaxcom's Nova and Maxx and the Sound Devices 833 and 888. As the third generation of Stingray bags, the Junior X boasts valuable improvements based on insight from demanding sound engineers. From its reinforced internal vertical frame to its trap door and zippered side panels, the Junior X is built for strength, stability, and ease of access.
Solid 3/8 and 1/4" attachment points on the frame allow you to connect accessories including antennas and magic arms for cell phones and tablets. The front flap opens for access to the recorder's controls, while color-coded zippers help you locate gear quickly on set. The removable shoulder strap helps you carry the gear, while the built-in kickstand allows the bag to sit at an angle when placed on a tabletop or the ground. Tough yet lightweight, the Stingray Junior X bag is ready for use in a wide variety of recording location environments. A clear shield and an all-weather bag are included to protect your gear and conceal the contents.
Three layers of water-repellent polyurethane reinforce the X Bag, which features a 1680D durable polyester fabric. The bag is meant for productions using very compact, full-function audio mixer recorders. The design was optimized to work with mixers like the Sound Devices 833 and 888 as well as Zaxcom's Nova and Maxx. It is also well suited for many similarly sized mixer recorders.
Two solid, threaded attachment points are directly tied into the frame structure of the bag, allowing accessories like sharkfin antennas to be attached. These two attachment points each feature 1/4"-20 female and 3/8"-16 male threads.
The premium zippers are color-coded for your convenience. Large side pockets offer plenty of room to store batteries and other accessories. Generous pass-throughs allow cable routing from and to the main compartment. A separate front compartment is protected by a rigid front panel and can be expanded or closed tight. Hook-and-loop pockets close the bottom sides of the front compartment while allowing for cabling access to the exterior of the bag. Various cable pass-through locations and smart storage points prove the versatility of the Stingray Junior X bag to various equipment choices and recording environments.
The Stingray Junior X bag comes with a shoulder strap, a clear shield, and an all-weather protection stealth bag. It is a perfect companion for the K-Tek Waistbelt and is fully compatible with the Stingray Harness (both available separately).

Mixpre10 compatible
I bought this for use with my brand new Mixpre 10ii. I was use to my Mixpre 6 with an orca OR-28 sound bag. The major issue with it for my was the form factor because it's is a little difficult to carry the bag in a bag pack. This one is larger but tinnier at the same time so there is no problem for carry it in that way. I just as a mod to the mole style attachment on the front cutting with a knife between them. Why? Because now I can use this attachment point with my uwpd receivers. Simple process.
Newer, better version of a great bag
I made the switch to K-Tek a few years ago and never looked back, after being a loyal user of a longtime brand since the 90s. Where the other company hasn't really innovated much in the last 20 years, companies like K-Tek have come in with much better ways of making sound bags. I had the previous generation of Stingray Small for a MixPre-10 II, and absolutely loved how easy it was to build out with a fully-loaded kit. When I purchased a Sound Devices 888, I knew I wanted to move to the new X-series of K-Tek bags for the improvements made. I ordered a Stingray Small X for the 888 and wanted to downsize the MixPre-10 II as a smaller, secondary kit for lighter projects. Enter the Stingray Junior X. Smaller than other Stingray X bags, the Junior benefits from one of the biggest improvements made for the new line of bags: the threaded mounting points for antennae or other accessories. Like other X-series bags, it's been slimmed down just a bit from its predecessor, but it still offers plenty of space for a compact audio bag. The Stingray Junior X easily accommodates a MixPre-10 II plus two Lectrosonics SRc receivers in the main compartment, plus a small BDS (Audioroot BG-DH MKII) and an IFB transmitter in the outer front pouch. There's ample space either inside the bottom flap or in the inner side pouches for a smart battery + cup. The solid construction and rugged nature of the bag mean that I won't be looking for a new bag for a very long time.
This a wonderfully made compact mixer bag.
This a wonderfully made compact mixer bag. I am using it with a Sound Devices PreMix 10T mixer. It fits snugly, but it does what I wanted it to do. It holds the mixer, NP1 type battery, 1 Lectro SRa duel receiver and two Audio Limited 2000 receivers. It also has a couple zipped pockets for extras.
Best option for MP10
Love this bag for my mixpre 10t ii. Some pros: - Fits the mixer and two wireless receivers (G3, Lectro SR, etc) in the main compartment. - large pouch in front for 2 batteries, additional receivers, etc. - two pockets on EACH side for lavs, accessories, IFB transmitter, extra cables, etc., PLUS an extra strap on both sides for even more transmitters, receivers, etc. - space (& strap) under the recorder for a smart battery - If you position the MP10 right, reaching the headphone knob is not too annoying - light enough that I haven't felt the pressing need to get a harness yet! - stealth bag is great and I use it to carry the bag everywhere - cool 3/16" threaded mounting points, handy for mounting a phone clamp, antennas, or a stereo pair of x/y or ORTF mics, although I have not made use of them yet. The biggest benefit to this case over the Orca 280 IMO is that it's far slimmer against my body, allowing me to fit through tight doorways on crowded sets. It also has more storage due to the side pockets and straps, and the zippers are quieter than my or-27 (not sure if the 280 uses the same zippers) However, I have a few minor complaints: - the bag bows a bit inward against my body at the middle, meaning my mixpre doesn't sit perfectly flush against the bottom of the bag - the Velcro straps for the mixpre are in the middle of the bag so I had to Velcro the mixpre to the bottom of the bag to fit wireless comfortably - the strap is uncomfortable if you want to tighten it up and have your bag sit a bit higher than normal against your chest - the side pockets are largely unorganizable, despite some internal dividers, etc, they don't work super well for dividing small items - a bit annoying to get a smart battery in/out of the bottom of the bag as it tends to catch on the strap - too many zippers for the internal pockets that get caught in each other Overall, though, lovely bag and the best option for the MP10 in my opinion.
