iFootage Komodo K7 Overview
The Komodo K7 Fluid Head from iFootage is designed with a wide-platform flat base for additional stability. It has a 3/8"-16 threaded mounting hole, making it suitable for use on sliders, flat base tripods, and bowl-based tripods with an optional half ball adapter. The fluid head features anodized aluminum construction that makes it lightweight at 4.28 lb, durable, and corrosion-resistant. It supports up to 15.43 lb of camera and rig weight, and it features four steps of counterbalance for fine-tuning the head to match the needs of the shot. You can also set the counterbalance to zero for a completely free operation.
The head has independent pan and tilt drag and locks, allowing you to adjust the settings for one axis without affecting the other. The fluid head features a +90 to -70° tilt range, allowing you to tilt completely straight down and tilt up nearly straight. The 360° of continuous pan allows you to endlessly pan if so desired. The drop-in quick release plate offers over 3" of travel for balance adjustment and is indexed, making it easier to rebalance when you change lenses. The front of the quick release plate is thinner than the rear, where the camera attaches, providing clearance for larger diameter lenses.

Buy this fluid head ! Handles heavy rigged out cameras really well .
For DSLR use
To date 98% of my wildlife photography has been hand-held. The Komodo K7 Fluid Head is true fluid (not grinding friction gears and plates that other manufacturers label as fluid when there is no presence of fluid) which provides me that additional stability in tracking: Especially on those times when I have been back-packing for miles and camera shake is evident.
Mixed bag
This is a solid head with a great feel to the pan and tilt mechanism. However, the tilt and pan tension knobs feel like garbage. Not only do they lack a consistent feel, but the knobs themselves have a rubber shroud over them that isn�t connected to the knob beneath it. This causes the rubber to move around, contributing to the already poor feel of these knobs. The lever lock for the sliding plate is also incredibly stiff to fully lock. It feels like a poor set of manufacturing tolerances. If I�d bought a lever clamp for a ball head that felt this bad, I�d send it back. Because of these issues I�d like to give it 3.5 starts but that�s not possible so I�ll give it 4 because the end result is smooth footage. I think there�s room for improvement though.
