GVM JJL-JY Overview
The JJL-JY Video Tripod System with Fluid Head from GVM offers professional features for mirrorless, DSLR, and other mid-size video cameras up to 13.2 lb. This hydraulic pan-tilt video tripod is made of durable, rigid, and lightweight aluminum and is suitable for outdoor shooting, live broadcasting, wedding photography, shooting video content, and more. The fluid head features a pre-set counterbalance and fixed fluid drag in both the pan and tilt axes, and it offers 360° panning and +90°/-70° tilt. The head's integrated flat base features a 3/8"-16 mounting thread and attaches to an included half-ball adapter that installs into the tripod's 60mm bowl. The flat base also makes the removable head directly compatible with most sliders, jibs, and cranes, allowing you to easily move it between the tripod legs and these optional supports.

GVM JJL-JY Reviews
Very disappointed
I bought this tripod to replace a 10-year old Libec that had served me well over the years. I've bought some other GVM gear that has been pretty decent, especially for the price. Before I bought this one, I read the reviews, including some of the negative ones, and thought maybe they were one-offs. I should have been more careful about the purchase. I received the tripod in early June, and the issues were apparent from the beginning. First, the way the plate and the tripod itself have been designed is very awkward. The plate is pretty long, and in order to make it fit with my camera and lenses, I have to put the camera way up front on the plate, so the plate won't get in the way of the zooming ring (see photos). The quick release lever is too high up on the tripod, so, again, I've had to make adjustments in camera placement. If the camera is centered, I can't turn that lever to lock everything in place. Second, the panning--the head has not insignificant play, so I've had to make adjustments when panning. I've tried everything, but I guess that's just bad design and construction. I can't upload the video to show this, unfortunately. Finally, a couple of weeks ago, just over three months after I got the new tripod, one of the screws that secures the leg locks fell out at some point, so now the plastic lock just hangs there unless it is locked into place. I'm not sure how secure it is with a missing screw, though. I'm giving it two stars because it's pretty sturdy, and if the issues above were addressed, I'd be pretty happy with it. Luckily, I bought it on sale, so I'm only out $140 or so. I spoke with someone at , and they were very helpful. While I cannot return the tripod to them at this point, the manufacturer does offer a 1-year limited warranty, so the operator gave me the number to call GVM and sent me the invoice in case I need it.
Love this!
I'm just getting into photography, needed a good, sturdy tripod to help with my shots. This tripod more than exceeds my expectations. It holds either a cellphone or professional camera! My images aren't distorted like with other tripods I have purchased.
Unacceptable
I've had success in the past with GVM but the head on this tripod is terrible. Specifically, the plate mount is very difficult to attach to. The plate gets jammed and is very difficult to slide in and out. Switching to a different QR plate doesn't solve the issue either. I returned it immediately for a different model.
Lost part was replaced
I lost a part and the vendor was kind enough to send me a replacement part quickly - good service!
Definitely not worth the money
I'm processing a return for 2 of these that I just purchased. The plate is almost glued into the head. You REALLY have to force it back in or yank it out to attach anything to it. The head is also fastened very poorly so that if you're trying to pan, the whole head will wobble. The pan bars showed up dented. The plate overshoots the head by at least an inch on either side. Just very poor construction. Wouldn't recommend at all.
Great video tripod
This tripod it's one my favorite tools so far. Normally a carbon fiber 2 stage tripod similar to this costs up to 2 times or even 3times. This knob used to unlock the legs are so great, the leg clips and knobs will set the legs free, very fast and smooth.
Will Not Dissapoint
This tripod is incredibly sturdy especially height it can achieve. The mount offers precision movement. A small feature that I have really enjoyed are the small clips at the base of each foot that lock all the feet together when you are packaging it up. I will add to my review once I get more use out of it but overall solid and more than impressed!
Great Camera Tripod
This tripod is awesome for the price and it comes with a carrying bag as well. Easy to set up and easy to use for my camera. I'm happy with it.
