My Vote For Best Astronomy Binoculars under $3,000.

I've been viewing the night skies intently since the early 1950s. Over the decades I've owned dozens of telescopes and binoculars and now, despite owning large and potent astronomical telescopes, I have always enjoyed the wide-field views of binoculars and their easy portability. Additionally, a nice set of binoculars can also be used terrestrially. You can certainly spend thousands on a set of Swarovski's or go larger with 100 to 150mm of aperture or more, but for pure convenience and satisfaction the Fujinon 10X70 FMTR-SX is difficult to beat. As of 2022, these binoculars will come in only the R version which I prefer due to the additional friction and protection afforded by the tough rubberized coating. It permits hand holding these optics securely without any downside. While hand holding them is possible, for best results you'll want them on a stable tripod with an appropriate adapter and photo/video head or parallelogram mount. The optics are truly amazing. I owned a set of these about 10 years ago, having purchased them used. They received a lot of use, but when I ran out of space in my home, I sold those older model 10x70s and regretted it ever since. Now that my space issues have been resolved, I'll be keeping these. The flat field shows no distortion across the entire field of view. When looking at the moon there is no false color around the perimeter of the lunar disc, only a sharp demarcation between the moon and the dark sky. At just 10x I can still see the Galilean Moons of Jupiter, but with the 5 18' of field, these binoculars really excel in sights like M45, NGC884 and NGC 869, NGC7789 and other open clusters. On really bright strs there is some small amount of flaring, but most stars are pin points across the FOV. These binoculars are truly a joy to use and being able to scan the skies and then immediately look into the woods at night is a great benefit. Try doing that with your telescope. You can spend more if you want, but you won't get any more enjoyment out of viewing the nights sky than these. One final note, is the place i come for equipment like this, there are fast to ship, easy to deal with and have excellent prices and an extensive line of high quality optical equipment.
