Freewell Real Locking Mega Kit Overview

The 82mm Freewell Real Locking VND/CPL Filter Mega Kit is a variable neutral density (VND) and circular polarizer (CPL) filter system that uses a secure tab-locking mechanism and includes filters constructed from multi- and resistance-coated glass with an aluminum frame. It's designed for professional filmmakers and photographers who need precise control over exposure and reflections without the risk of accidental detachment. 1/4-grade White Snow Mist and Black Glow Mist filters are included in the kit to further expand creative capabilities.

True Color & Variable Light Control

The included 3 to 7-stop VND/CPL filter allows you to dial in the perfect exposure from soft daylight to bright midday sun. It also allows you to independently adjust polarization to reduce glare and enhance contrast without affecting your ND setting. It is engineered with True Color optics, a proprietary coating process that ensures accurate and vibrant color reproduction without color shifts.

The included ND32 filter reduces light by five stops, letting you control brightness easily for well-exposed landscapes or portraits on sunny days.

When these two filters are used together, you achieve an increased total light reduction of up to 10+ stops. This combination allows for greater light control and more creative options, especially in extremely bright conditions or for long-exposure photography.

Portrait Photography & Cinematic Video Filters

This kit includes two Freewell Real Locking filters designed for enhancing both portrait photography and cinematic video. The 1/4-grade White Snow Mist filter softens highlights and lifts shadows, creating a gentle, diffused effect, while the 1/4-grade Black Glow Mist filter adds a soft glow around highlights and lifts shadows for a cinematic, dreamy look.

Innovative Locking Mechanism

This filter system uses a tab-lock design to secure the filters firmly to the lens, preventing accidental rotation or removal, especially during dynamic or handheld shooting.

Base Ring Enables Quick Swaps

This kit is designed for quick and efficient changes, unlike traditional threaded filters. The included 82mm base ring serves as the foundational mounting point for the entire filter system. It screws directly onto any camera lens that has an 82mm filter thread. Once the base ring is attached, you can easily attach and swap the various filters in the kit, including the VND/CPL filter and the ND32 filter. Additionally, you can stack other separately sold Real Locking specialty filters using this base ring.

Smart Lens Caps with Built-In Tools

The front cap locks securely with two tabs and features NFC technology- just tap with your phone for instant access to manuals, warranty, and support. The rear cap doubles as a gray card, giving you a quick and reliable way to set perfect white balance on location.

Storage & Cleaning

The included filter case protects against dust, scratches, and everyday wear while keeping the filters neatly organized and safe during transport. The cleaning cloth helps remove dust, dirt, oil, smudges, and fingerprints from the filters.
