While the first thing that catches your eye is the light's unique form, FotodioX backs that up with flexibility and sophisticated performance features. In White Light mode the Prizmo offers color temperature variable from 2800 to 6500K to blend seamlessly with other fixtures or to meet ambient light conditions without the burden of applying filters. Light intensity is also adjustable steplessly from 0-100% with a simple twist of a knob. The Prizmo also has an RGB mode with variable color temperature from 2700 to 8000K. A 360° color selection wheel is available to shooters with hue and saturation control for access to literally millions of custom colors. While you can make these adjustments locally on the fixture, you can also make them wirelessly via the included remote control.
While most light fixtures have a degree of directionality to allow selective lighting, the Halo is omnidirectional, bathing your subject in soft, flattering, and near-shadowless light that is very kind to skin tones. FotodioX employs 560 LEDs softened by a diffusion filter, and the fixture maintains a high CRI of 95, indicating an accurate rendering of color.
When you place a camera lens or smart device into the center of the 18" ring light, the Prizmo shows its true nature. You can use it combined with harder light sources to create a soft fill light, and since the Prizmo dims from 0-100%, you won't have to jockey the fixture around to obtain the required level of light. When it is used alone its signature characteristics emerge - soft light on the face, head, and shoulders, for instance, with sharp shadows cast exactly behind the body. The circular catchlights reflected in your subject's eyes also have a striking effect, especially up close.
While the Prizmo is ready for worldwide use thanks to the inclusion of a multi-voltage AC adapter, you can also use two NP-F-type batteries when AC power is unavailable.
