FotodioX B4-MAGIC-PRO Overview
The Fotodiox Pro B4 Magic Adapter allows you to mount 2/3" B4 lenses onto the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera. It is constructed from brass with a stainless steel finish and features built-in optics to correct the image circle from your B4 lens to fit the Pocket Camera's sensor without vignetting. To reduce strain on the Pocket Camera's MFT mount when using heavy zoom lens, the adapter has an Arca-Swiss compatible tripod foot to help support the weight of the adapter and lens. An all-metal cap is included that fits on the front of the lens adapter, protecting the optics when no lens is attached.
Note: This adapter is designed to work with lenses set to f/5.6 or greater. Shooting below f/5.6 may result in soft focus, depending on your lens.

Don't buy if you have a Fujinon XA lens - it will not fit!
I love the idea of this, but it fails for XA lenses. Have to send back!
Solid mechanically, iffy opticaly
My first impression is that this is a solid piece of gear. It mounts with no noticeable play to the mft mount on my Blackmagic Micro Studio Camera (Super 16 sensor) and solidly holds the Fujinon 19x ENG lens I bought it for. The fit and finish is very nice and the solid machined B4 cap is a work of art. Unfortunately that's where the good news ends. The optics in it are poor. My testing show that vignetting is noticeable at 20mm focal length and under. With the lens at at f5.6 (effectively f11) the image is soft and low contrast with color fringing visible especially near the edges of the image. You might get some usable footage in brightly lit, high contrast, out door situations with the lens stopped way way down. But it's not going to deliver quality results indoors.
A Great Innovation
I use this adapter with my B4 ENG lenses on the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera with pretty great results, especially when stopped down to f5.6 for that sharp image.It's well built and very easy to use. The only downside about it is that it is mainly only for the BMPCC and Fotodiox really do need to produce a similar product for the Panasonic GH4. Olympus OM-D and also maybe the new Samsung NX1.Here is some test footage I supplied to -------
Only works with some B4 Lenses
You would think that with a 'standard' lens mount such as B4 that FotodioX would be able to create an adapter that would actually fit properly with a B4 lens. Alas, that is not the case. Tried using this adapter with a Fujinon XA series lens and no-go. The B4 mount size was too small! However, the same lens connected to my USRA Broadcast B4 mount with no problems at all. Nice build quality for this product, but it doesn't do what it is advertised to do.

It works pretty well, ,,, I'm adapting a Canon Hj11x4.7B4,,, There is a little bit of outer area aberration when my lens is fully wide but its pretty acceptable even in 4k, my lens is in very good condition and that makes a huge difference in your picture quality ,,, Iris really has to be kept above F2.8 otherwise you get blurry bleeding,,, this is usual with all these adaptors. Also there is a small barrel effect central white haze dot when zooming,,, this is also usual with all adapters for B4 but its very hard to see with this adapter,, the best I have seen. You will not get great results if your using an old non HD B4 eng lens, any lens problem will be amplified ten fold,,, so if you think you can put any old eng lens on this,, you will be disappointed. Summery : If you buy or have a very good HD B4 lens,,, go for it :-) My only gripe is the MFT part of the Adapter is just to tight a Fit on my BMCC ,, not sure if this is just this actual adapter but my six other MFT mount lenses are fine. I would give five stars if MFT fit wasn't so tight ! Cheers Craig
