ETC HPU Overview

A versatile, compact rackmounted device, the HPU Rackmountable Console / DMX Processor from ETC is a hybrid processor unit for the Hog family. Meaning the HPU acts either as a rackmounted console or as a DMX processor when connected to another Hog console. In console mode, the HPU can work as a backup solution. The HPU offers 64 universes for an impressive number (32,768) of output channels, all from a single 2 RU 19" rackmount unit. With eight XLR 5-pin DMX ports, sACN and Art-Net support, and expandable capabilities, the HPU is ideal for architectural lighting installations and other applications where permanent hardware front-panel interfaces are not necessary. Other highlights are the device's built-in 8" full-color multitouch display and various USB ports for flashdrives, pointing devices, and keyboards.

System Capacity

32,768 parameters (64 universes) in console mode via local processing and 32,768 parameters (64 universes) in DMX processor mode.

Expandable

The HPU is fully expandable using Response Network Gateways, Interfaces, or additional HPU units. Users can plug a Gig Hog into the HPU or add up to two external DisplayPort monitors/touchscreens for a complete, stable control system that will elevate the potential of any show. Find dual RJ45 Ethernet connections for HogNet and FixtureNet and an optional port replicator that can bring all connections to the front of the equipment rack if needed.

Display Functions

Functionalities include user configurable displays with recordable views, dedicated views to access most-used items quickly, palette, list, views, scenes, batches, effect directories, programmer window, plot views, output window, fixture schedule and patch windows, and three color schemes for daylight, regular, or dark environment use.

Programming Settings

Programming settings include command-line interface, programmer window displays selected and adjusted fixtures, lists constructed with +/-, thru, or selection softkeys, next, back, and all commands, intensity set with command keypad, full key, and intensity palettes, ordered groups, comprehensive fanning using segments and buddying, media picker window, Hog color system, programmer window, groups for simplified fixture selection, palettes intensity, position, color, beam, effects, effects engine, pixel mapping effects, park, undo, delete, move, and copy commands, highlight, lowlight, and rem dim commands, cue level and parameter level timing, record, update, and merge commands, knockout and clear commands, and set command for text labels and data entry.

Playback Control

Find unlimited fader pages, comment and keystroke macros, virtual masters, scenes, batch controllers, group masters, triggering via commands, playback expansion via Gig Hog, OSC input/output, MIDI messages, MIDI show control, and MIDI/LTC timecode via USB MIDI/LTC widgets.
