Designed with the DSLR/mirrorless shooter that uses a motorized gimbal, the Easyrig Minimax STABIL Light Gimbal/Camera Support System is great for removing bounce from walking or running while helping you shoot for extended periods without fatigue. The STABIL light is based on the Easyrig STABIL, though engineered for smaller payloads, and it helps reduce vertical vibration and movement as you track your subjects. It includes the Easyrig Vest, Upgraded Minimax Powerpack, and STABIL Light.
This upgraded Minimax model features a redesigned spring system to accommodate the STABIL Light, which results in smoother support rope movement specifically designed for the 4.4 to 15.4 lb payload range. You can adjust the tension of the STABIL Light flexible support arm to match the weight of your gimbal/camera combination, and you can also lock the support arm so it behaves like the original Minmax arm.

Easyrig Minimax Reviews
Great for Cinema Work & Then Some
Great camera support system. Others have written much already about how great it is for camera work. But, it can even do more. As the attached photo will show, I hooked up my leaf blower to it. The leaves in the heavily wooded area where I live in the Pacific Northwest can be a bear on the back. I hooked up the Easyrig to my leaf blower and wallah what a great support system for leaf blowing!
Mostly Great
This thing excels at relieving your back...which is wonderful. That means you can go longer and do more without fatiguing. My only gripe is that I've rented this same pack before several times (exact same Minimax model) and once I finally bought it - this newer (version?) one, it feels like it fits differently in subtle ways. There seems to be a lumbar support-ish area that doesn't work or sit where it should. I'm an average sized person, about 5'10'' 185 lbs 33-inch waist and this brand new version (compared to two other rental experiences) feels like it's made for someone much smaller. That said, it's still the cream of the crop when it comes to camera rig weight redistribution!
Love it but quick release...
Great piece of gear no doubt. But I started to regret getting quick release version. Maybe it's just my luck and I got the faulty one, but it sticks very often and it's getting really hard taking camera off the "hook" I tried WD40 on it, no luck. It's either design flaw or something not working right with that release. Anyways, besides that, it's a must have for camera ops no doubt.
A Great Camera Support System
Great camera support to save your arms and back. Pricey, but worth the investment if you are doing long shoots for multiple days, and are doing them consistently enough that you can't afford to rent every time. The QR version is super quick and easy to use. Though if you want the traditional hook for your handle you will have to buy that separately. This comes with 4 ball-heads (two different screw sizes) that screw right into your top handle or camera cage, and the QR clamps on the heads directly. Very quick n easy, but means you need to have screw holes to mount them. Generally not a problem, but worth noting. My only complaint about this product, is the size of the vest. Before you read further I want to stress that it's more about discomfort than any serious issue. If it was a serious problem I wouldn't have given it 4 stars. Additionally, I believe this is an issue with most vest-type camera supports. I'm a big guy (6ft. 4in.) and so the waist strap (perhaps the most important to help redistribute the camera rig weight) ends up around or above my belly button. This makes the vest somewhat uncomfortable, but mostly means that my back takes more strain than the design intended. It's not a deal breaker, as it this has made working much much easier, but I have to be very careful to strap in properly and make sure my back is strong to avoid straining it too much. Thankfully this product is designed for lighter rigs (such as mine) so the strain isn't terrible. When using the heavier duty Vario 5 with a heavier rig the strain become more of an issue, as the weight transfer will end up going around the lower back (a particularly easily injured part of the body due to it's high mobility). For most people who aren't so tall, and therefore don't have such a long torso, this shouldn't be much of an issue. As the bottom strap will likely fall around their lower stomach or their waist, as intended.
Arm Saver!
I wish I would have pulled the trigger on this sooner. I'm pairing this with the C70, RS2, and the Tilta Advanced Ring. Still have to be extremely smooth while walking but the weight off my arms allows me to hold this heavy set up for hours now.
Best item
Camera man must have !
Great tool
Great tool to save your back. Been using it with fx9, 4 days a week, and could not see myself not have this. Equipped with 70-200 sony oss mark II, at 200 you can get awsome handheld shots. Great product
Run & gun for hours
I've been using the Minimax STABIL Light for about 4 months now and I'm very happy with the results. I purchased this to be used in conjunction with a hefty Ursa 12K rig, which pushes the Minimax close to its limits (~15lbs). I'm glad to say that the line has plenty of tension to keep my camera suspended. One helpful feature that may be overlooked is that the STABIL arm can be locked in place (no up & down movement). I find this helpful when I need to get static shots. If you're looking primarily for a stabilizer, the Minimax might not be for you. Even with the STABIL Light system, significant amounts of hand and hip movement can still be transferred to your camera. However, hang a gimbal from this rig, and many of those problems can be alleviated! I can get fairly stable shots without a gimbal if I maintain 3 points of contact (both hands & chest).
