Designed to provide top-quality audio, transparency, and accuracy for small- to medium-sized studios, the CMC3 from Drawmer is a compact monitor controller with a circuit that delivers exactly what is being recorded to your monitors of choice, be they speakers, subs, or headphones, without sacrificing any of the essential features expected in a studio monitoring environment. The large volume knob and secondary preset volume control incorporate paralleled, custom quad pots for excellent channel matching and a smooth feel, while advanced mix checking functions such as phase reversal, dim, left/right cut, and mono selections let you set up the optimal mix in a flash.
Connections are provided for up to three pairs of speakers and a subwoofer with variable source selection, making it easy to perform A/B comparisons as well as internal or external talkback functionality, while input options include two 1/4" stereo pairs for mixers and DAWs, a 24-bit / 192 kHz RCA S/PDIF digital input, and a handy 3.5mm stereo aux input for smartphones and other audio sources. Rugged and stylish, the CMC3 is a joy to carry to your next session thanks to its durable steel enclosure, which protects your controller circuitry while retaining a low-profile design that fits perfectly on any desktop.
The volume control utilizes a paralleled custom quad pot for excellent channel matching and smooth feel, as does the secondary preset volume control on the front. This provides repeatable, calibrated output level for the monitors, so that at the flick of a switch, the engineer can hear the mix at the same predetermined volume, time after time, without having to meticulously adjust controls.
In addition, it has two professional-quality headphone outputs with a separate amplifier and level control that provide the same audio quality and mix checking as the speaker outputs. Talkback is also included with internal or external microphones, level control, and audio routing to a dedicated mono output jack and headphones.
Whilst being smart and stylish, the rugged steel enclosure will withstand the knocks and bumps of the studio, and coupled with the high-quality components used, the CMC3 is built to last. In addition, a Kensington security slot provides protection from thieves.
