Overall, a nice paper if you can't coat your own!
Typically I coat my own paper for cyanotypes, but I needed a pre-coated paper for a workshop (owner did not want chemicals in the studio). I purchased this set to test for density of image and paper weight and was pleasantly surprised! The weight is ideal - similar to a 140 lb. hot press watercolor paper. The colored paper adds a fun element and, depending upon exposure time, the print can have decent contrast from light to dark. I gave this product four stars because the red paper tends to run in the bath, and some of the prints on red washed out. The other colors were fine. This would be great paper to use with kids as the colors will engage them - also great if you use cyanotypes with collage work.
Really fun to work with
I love these cards. They print well and are a nice size. If only they were a little less expensive, you can go through them quickly, especially when you're experimenting.
Easy to use, great for kids
Easy Cyanotype process with water. Daylight required 10-15 minutes. Works well.
Fun but requires testing
These are a really fun and hassle-free to try out cyanotypes. We had a lot of fun gathering all sorts of plants and leaves and making prints, and the results look stunning. However, if you're serious about getting good and consistent results, I think some research and testing is required, as with any photographic process. For example, the directions on the package indicate to expose the paper for 15 minutes, but you need to know that this is only sufficient if you're in full sunlight in the summer months. If you're further up north, or if it's winter, of if there are any clouds, you will get a lot less UV light, which is what these require. I've needed to up it to anywhere between 20 minutes to 1.5 hours. Check the UV index for your location before you test. I've also found that these yield a pretty pale color on their own and need a little extra help reacting to turn to that deep blue. A spoonful of peroxide mixed into the rinsing tray did the trick though. Other people have used a dash of vinegar. Experiment for the pH of your local water...
Great option for making Cyanotypes
I used this product for an art project with some digitally printed negatives. I was very happy with the detail and a sharpness I got in the cyanotypes. I found that using hydrogen peroxide on the cyanotype once it's been exposed & washed will help to darken the blue tones. Very happy with the product.
A great activity for students
Easy-to-use cyanotype paper allows students to learn the most basic principles of photography -- that exposing a light-sensitive material to sunlight causes a chemical reaction that can create an image. Because the paper is developed in water, it is safe to use in a classroom; no darkroom required.

Fun and easy . I bought to do with grand daughter who is 4 years old. We has a wonderful fun time, Find objects in yard and put in sun for 1-30 minutes depending on the objects.
