Celestron 94216 Overview
The 8-inch Dovetail bar (CGE) from Celestron is for mounting a telescope optical tube to a mount or to attach accessories to the top of the optical tube. Having an extra dovetail bar means that a telescope can have its tube rings attached to its own dovetail bar. To use a different telescope for the same mount, all that would then have to be done would be to slide the bar into the mounts clamp and tighten it.

Fits old Orange C8
Important to know. This will fit the old orange C-8 without any modifications. Don't know why the descriptions says that it fits the later models.
Be sure it's the right size ...
This is NOT a Vixen width dovetail bar, so make sure your mount supports the wider standard (is that the Losmandy style?) In any case, the dovetail bar screwed easily to my ancient Celestar 8, which can now be mounted on my Celestron Advanced VX GoTo German Equatorial Mount. This mount supports both Vixen width (as came with my new Celestron 8 EdgeHD) and the wider dovetails like this one, whatever they're called.
