Canon ET-73 Overview
The Canon ET-73 Lens Hood is designed for the Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS Lens. The hood is primarily designed to prevent unwanted stray light from entering the lens by extending and shading the end of the lens.
In addition, since the end of the lens is extended, you also get the added benefit of some extra protection from accidental impact. The lens hood will not create any vignetting.

Same quality as the original
I'm so glad to have gotten a replacement for the original hood that came with my Canon EF 100mm. A bit on the expensive side, but what someone pointed out is that the inside has a bit of black felt that breaks up and absorbs any light that manages to leak inside of the hood, thus no reflections that you might get from a cheaper version that is just as smooth as the outside.

It's a hood, it fits, it's what I wanted. My camera was stolen with this lens on it, and when it was recovered, the hood was missing. Now I have it again.
