CalDigit Element Hub Reviews
Excellent
It works great with Mac Book Pro.
Power supply burned out after 4 months
The wall wart is larger than the hub, and it burned out in 4 months of very light use.
Best Speed for the Money
Use with an M1 MacBook Pro, one cable hookup to the hub. Every thing is super fast and stays connected, even when the Mac sleeps. Very happy with the specs and performance.
Capable but Puts out Heat and High Frequency Noise
I selected this product to add powered T3 ports for my dual monitors and a couple of auxiliary devices (e.g., external SDD and RXDVD) while freeing up ports on my Mac Pro. It delivers on the port power and connectivity, but it generates enough heat to reheat my coffee and of late, started generating an annoying ultra-high frequency (similar to some store alarm systems). I've had to put it on a lower shelf to mitigate the noise while I work and I've added room cooling to reduce the heat buildup.
Best Hub for MacBook
Best hub I've found for macbook. Only downside is needing external power to use it, but I love being able to plug in bus-powered hard drives without worry.
Buy it if you can find one!
If this shows up in stock and you need a Thunderbolt hub, grab it! You can easily set up a reliable plug-and-go system with this and a 2021MBP laptop. I have two thunderbolt SSDs, a USB3 SSD, my audio interface, and my webcam all connected to this. I use HDMI for my external monitor, but could use this hub for that as well. I can switch between laptops super easily with all my drives and hardware in place. It is very small and nicely built, and it never dismounts my drives when my computers sleep, which is a huge pet peeve of mine with some of these things. Two small caveats: 1) It gets hot and will need space around it to ventilate. 2) The power brick is comically large, far bigger than the hub. It is reminiscent of a laptop power supply from the 1990s. Don't expect easy portability because the hub itself is small.
great to fill the need of more ports
Needed more ports this gave with charm..
For simpler needs
If you just need some extra ports and two monitors, this has you covered.
