AUDIOROOT UPRE MKII Overview
The AUDIOROOT uPRE MKII is a professional-quality, lightweight, and portable stereo microphone preamplifier designed for audio applications such as ENG/EFP (electronic news gathering / electronic field production), music recording, and broadcast production. It's the successor to the original uPRE, with several enhancements. It offers two electronically balanced microphone inputs via Switchcraft mini-XLR connectors. The uPRE MKII provides a wide gain range (-50 to +80 dB) for precise control over audio levels, ensuring clean and detailed sound even with low-output microphones. Equipped with high-efficiency 48V phantom power for both channels, it allows the use of condenser microphones.
A major upgrade in the MKII version is the inclusion of a 24-bit / 192 kHz digital output, selectable between AES and S/PDIF formats. This allows for direct digital connection to recorders or other digital audio devices. It also features unbalanced analog outputs. All outputs are via a Switchcraft mini-XLR5 connector. The uPRE MKII includes features like a high-pass filter (80 Hz), stereo link, and M/S decoding for added flexibility in various recording scenarios. Its compact and lightweight design is housed in a rugged hybrid polyamide/aluminum casing, making it suitable for field use.
The uPRE MKII can be powered by two 9V batteries or an external DC power supply (9 to 18 VDC) via a Hirose connector. An optional uPRE MKII-PSU 100-240 VAC power supply is available separately.
