Just what my A5's needed.
Great sounding sub
Tight and Deep
The sub pairs with my wireless A5+ very well, and it gets so loud I have the volume barely up on the sub. Stylish, clean sounding bass with enough power to let my whole block i have a sub if want to.
Makes a huge difference.
I had previously purchased the Audioengine A2+ speakers but the impact just wasn't there. With this sub attached it makes the sound a lot cleaner. I love that I can dial in the volume and crossover on this sub so that it hits just right with my preferred music. It is a pretty alrge sub compared to what I previously had but it's perfect for the sound it gives out.
Great sound
Have this paired with the A2+ speakers. Adds a great bottom end. Took a little while to set up the wireless daisy chain using the W3 audio adapters, but Audioengine's site has clear, detailed setup info.
Expected
Just as i expected....perfect!!!
Great lows in an 8" package
I had the Kef Eggs, just wanted some subwoofer to fill the gap, the color goes with my white eggs, and the bass is good enough. Quite happy with the setup.
Great for uncolored sound
It's not the biggest or most powerful subwoofer, and might not fill a large room for home theater, but for clean, uncolored sound, say for jazz or classical, it's hard to beat. This sub has a solid pedal low C (think the Saint-Sans Third Symphony or certain passages from Holst's The Planets) and for intimate listening to jazz it will give you rock-solid (no pun intended) bass without overpowering the music. Pairs beautifully with other Audioengine products; a pair of self-powered speakers plus the S8, and a passive preamp for a volume control, gives you a super-clean small system at a fraction of the cost of a big component setup, and no compromise in sound quality. If accurate timbre and fidelity are your goals, this is an excellent choice. And for the icing on the cake, it's beautifully hand-finished in glossy white or black.
