API AUDIO 3124MV Overview
Ideal as a front-end mic pre in studios and mobile recording setups, the API Audio 3124MV is a 4-channel mic pre with a master bus stereo mixer for complete control over your inputs. Sporting comprehensive connectivity, including 1/4" inserts on each channel and aux send and return connections, the 3124MV can handle a wide range of production scenarios.
The 3124MV features pristine API circuitry, including the AP2516 input transformer, 2520 op-amps, and a custom output transformer, delivering up to 65 dB of clean gain per mic pre. Each input channel sports level, gain, pan, and aux controls, as well as buttons for polarity inversion, 48V phantom power, a -20 dB pad, and mic/line input selection, and has a 3:1 transformer tap function, which reduces the gain ratio from 1:3 to 1:1. Each channel also features a dedicated 7-segment LED meter, and the unit has variable output control. Connectivity includes balanced XLR I/O, four 1/4" Hi-Z instrument inputs, one 1/4" insert per channel, stereo aux send and return connectors, and stereo pair of 1/4" outputs for the master stereo mixer. Finally, the unit sports a universal internal power supply with manual switching, supporting international power standards.
However, the 3124MV provides an additional audio mixer with transformer-balanced output, keeping the unit size and price reasonable. Both models are equally at home in the control room, studio, recording truck, or onstage.
