Angler CatchLight V2 Overview
The CatchLight Reflector V2 from Angler is a simple solution to a lighting problem. A common technique for achieving a glamorous portrait is lighting the subject on-axis from above to bring out the modeling of the face and details in the hair, makeup, etc. But what to do about the hard shadows under the nose and around the eyes other than add additional lights to complicate the subject? The Catchlight V2 is a modifier with a width of 58.5" wide and an open "U" shape which forms an arc to surround your subject. It has tightly-stretched reflective silver material to offer a consistent effect.
An included bracket fits standard light stands and allows the reflector to be tilted to the ideal angle for bouncing light from the main source and slightly flatten the contrast, while maintaining a three-dimensional look. This versatile reflector removes the shadows to the desired degree without adding another source. The CatchLight V2's name is derived from the natural-looking reflections that are created in your subject's eyes, and because of its unbroken arc shape doesn't have the gaps seen when using multiple reflectors. The CatchLight V2 can be used with any light source, be it a tungsten, LED, or flash fixture, or even outdoors with ambient sunlight. Angler CatchLight V2 Reviews
Great except for...
The Angler Catchlight Reflector is great except for that it was very hard to assemble as the last part of stretching it to fit almost had me calling another person to help it was that tough. It is very wide and probably should have gone with a smaller version but it is what it is. Overall it gets the job done!
Excellent Product
I am enjoying my new catchlight reflector. It has been a welcomed addition to my headshot photography. It does it's job of providing soft fill light in the shadow areas making for a nice soft even lighting.
Impossible Assembly
This is by far the worst designed assembly I have ever seen, bar none. There may be some versions of this reflector around that don't require the kind of pulling required to assemble the one I received. Mine differed a bit from the instructions, only one side of the reflector had a zipper. I followed the instructions (I'm virtually a certified IKEA assembler). Impossible, absolutely totally 100% impossible to stretch the reflector tight enough, if the two end bars are installed and then pull the reflector tight enough. The only way to get this thing to stretch, is deviate significantly from the instructions. You have to do a sort of parallelogram bending with the two end bars already slid into and zipped into their pockets, the center support loosely installed, and the whole thing mounted on a pretty strong light stand. You then have to pry like crazy, and slip the last rod into the hole. That means the threads on the bar are eventually going to be ruined, because they grind against the metal side piece. Oh, and yes, the black paint will be rubbed off around the bar ends. It fits and it can be assembled. But I worked hard on this thing for almost two hours to figure it out. Yes the reflector needs to be tight. But there has to be a far better way to accomplish that tension. Now that I've figured out how to assemble this thing, and I left it in the sun for a few hours to stretch out the fabric, I might disassemble it. It is big. Almost 5 feet wide. It works exactly as advertised, it does a gorgeous job of filling shadows.
reflective material does not fit frame
The reflective fabric does not fit on the frame. I have tried to stretch it to accommodate the frame, but the stitching where the reflective surface meets the fabric edge will start to rip and tear.
Not bad. Not perfect.
Not bad but could of been way better designed. With practice and a little bit of muscle it will take about 10-15 minutes to set up. You will need to completely take the unit apart and reassemble to change from silver to the optional white reflector. The one I received looked possibly used by the damaged inner packaging and marks on the reflector and tubes. Maybe was a return. Works great for what it is made to do.
MUST HAVE ACCESORY
You will absolutely love your images once you see the results. We could use 4 light set up and yet when you add this reflector... it just takes the images to another level. Build quality superb. Super duper easy to assemble. Highly recommend.

Does NOT fit frame
This would be a great product if it fit into the frame. I bought two, and the reflector part is too short to fit onto the ends of the frame.
