Best Binoculars for Lowlight SeeingIntroducing the new Alpen Teton Binocular
Outfitted with a high magnification that enables users to make detailed observations of distant subjects, Alpen Optics' 10x42 Teton ED HD Binoculars combine a slim ergonomic form factor with thoughtfully engineered optical features for an ideal companion to today's long-range riflescopes.
The optical performance starts with large 42mm objectives to boost performance as light fades, with extra-low-dispersion (ED) glass elements and phase-corrected and metallic-coated BAK4 Abbe-Koenig roof prisms. These help to correct spherical and chromatic aberrationsproducing bright and clear high-contrast images with accurate color representation without distortion across the entire wide field of view in all light conditions. The generous field of view combines with the comfortable eye relief and exit pupil to help minimize the appearance of distracting hand shake commonly associated with high-power optics, while presenting an immersive observational experience from dawn to dusk.
Optical Performance
- High 10x magnification allows users to make detailed observations of distant objects
- 42mm objective lenses boost light-gathering ability versus compact models for improved low-light performance without the bulk of larger objectives
- Compact Abbe-Koenig roof prisms help to maintain a slim form factor for easier handling and carrying
- BAK4 prisms deliver a round exit pupil, and a crisp, clear image with limited edge distortion
- PXA phase-corrected prism coatings improve color rendition and contrast
- SHR metallic prism coatings maximize light throughput to improve brightness, sharpness, and resolution
- Extra-low-dispersion glass further reduces chromatic and spherical aberration to produce accurate color rendition; and improve resolution, contrast, and clarity across the entire field of view
- Anti-reflection fully multicoated optics further improve light transmission, color, contrast, and clarity
- Wide 65° apparent angle of view minimizes the appearance of distracting hand shake common when holding high-power optics and presents an immersive observational experience
- 340-foot field of view at 1000 yards
Use and Handling
- Closed-bridge design provides a solid and stable platform for the focusing mechanism
- Large center focusing wheel is easy to manipulate, even when wearing gloves
- A-lock locking dioptric correction ensures your personalized settings won't be accidentally changed
- Twist-up eyecups for comfortable use with or without eyewear
- Tripod mountable with optional adapter helps to reduce arm fatigue during long glassing sessions and to eliminate shake and/or vibrations
- 15mm eye relief improves viewing comfortable while minimizing eye strain
- 4.2mm exit pupil will cover most pupils as they open and dilate in low-light conditions, providing clearer views
Construction Details
- Lightweight and durable magnesium housing reduces weight, yet maintains strength and stability
- Nitrogen-filled and O-ring sealed to be resistant to internal fogging when moving through extreme temperature and environmental changes
- Rubber armor protects against bumps and impacts
- Texturing on the palm pads, focus knob, and dioptric correction ring improves handling in cold or wet weather or while wearing gloves
