TerraMaster D8 HYBRID Overview
Designed as a storage expansion device for Windows, Mac, or Linux computers, the D8 Hybrid 8-Bay USB 3.2 Gen 2 RAID Enclosure from TerraMaster features four 3.5/2.5" SATA drive bays that can accommodate HDDs and SSDs, plus four M.2 2280 NVMe slots for SSDs. Users will be able to tailor their storage setup to optimize efficiency and store frequently used "hot" data on the SSDs, while cold data that is accessed less frequently is kept on the HDDs.
Installed drives can be configured for RAID 0 and 1 via a hardware controller, plus JBOD, and Single, depending on your performance and security preferences. Across four M.2 SSDs, read speeds can reach up to 1016 MB/s and write speeds up to 960 MB/s. The D8 Hybrid connects to your host system using a 10 Gb/s USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 port and stays cool using a 120mm fan. It may also be used to expand the storage of a compatible TerraMaster NAS device. Included is a power cord, a power adapter, a 2.6' 10 Gb/s USB-C cable, and screws.
Using the D8 Hybrid as a storage expansion device for Windows, Mac, or Linux computers is an excellent choice. By combining four 24TB SATA HDDs with four 8TB M.2 NVMe SSDs, it offers a maximum capacity of up to 128TB, providing abundant storage space for your extensive data needs.
Tailor your storage setup to your data's needs and usage patterns. Leverage the large capacity advantage of mechanical hard drives and the high-speed read/write performance of M.2 SSDs. Users have the flexibility to manually select where to store their data based on type and frequency of usage, optimizing storage efficiency and access speed. This approach ensures swift access to hot data stored on high-speed SSDs, while cold data is stored economically and efficiently on HDDs.
Say goodbye to data worries with the complimentary TerraMaster TPC Backupper software. Back up your Windows PC data with ease, featuring incremental and differential backup strategies for stress-free and secure data storage. For Mac users, you can seamlessly utilize the built-in Time Machine feature for backup purposes.
The D8 Hybrid features a USB-C interface, offering excellent compatibility with various protocols, including USB 3.2 Gen 2, USB 3.2 Gen 1, USB4, Thunderbolt 3, and Thunderbolt 4. A complimentary 2.6' USB-C to USB-C cable is included. The interface is compatible with Windows 7 and later, macOS X 10.6 and later, and Linux Ubuntu 16/18/20.
Get ready for lightning-fast data transmissions. With the USB 3.2 Gen 2 protocol, enjoy a blazing transfer bandwidth of up to 10 Gb/s. Experience maximum speeds across three different storage mediums and hardware environments.
With a single M.2 NVMe SSD, users can achieve speeds of up to 980 MB/s. When using two SATA SSDs in a RAID 0 configuration, it is possible to get speeds up to 960 MB/s and read speeds up to 521 MB/s.
Multiple RAID Types for DATA Security
The D8 Hybrid features a hardware mode switch design, allowing HDD1 and HDD2 to quickly set the RAID mode through a manual switching knob. This creates an ultra-large capacity storage space with a RAID data protection mechanism for computers.
Cross-Platform File Data Sharing
The D8 Hybrid supports various file system formats including NTFS, APFS, EXT4, FAT32, and exFAT. Its support for the exFAT file system, which can handle large files, allows hard drives formatted with the exFAT file system on the D8 Hybrid to be read and written across devices running different operating systems such as Windows, Mac, and NAS, providing a convenient cross-platform solution for large file transfers.
Four Hardware Adjustment Modes
The D8 Hybrid supports four hardware adjustment modes: SINGLE, JBOD, RAID 0, and RAID 1.
JBOD Mode
Combines the storage space of more than one hard drive into a single storage space, providing a large available capacity but without any data protection.
Single Mode
Each hard drive's storage space is used independently.
RAID 0 Mode
Divides data into smaller segments and distributes them across multiple drives simultaneously, offering excellent performance but without any data protection.
RAID 1 Mode
Divides the storage space of the hard drives into two halves, storing data while also creating backups. This provides excellent data redundancy in the event of disk failure.
Dive into the uniqueness of TerraMaster's 2+6 RAID mode. Slots 1 & 2 offer a playground for RAID 0/1/JBOD configurations, ensuring your data's absolute security. Meanwhile, slots 3 & 4 and M.2 NVMe SSDs stand strong as independent guardians, catering to your every storage whim.
Unlock Infinite NAS Space
The D8 Hybrid is an ideal choice for expanding the NAS capacity of a home or small office. Simply connect the D8 Hybrid to the USB port of your NAS device and you can easily expand the NAS storage space.
You can even use the D8 Hybrid as an external DAS storage device for Te¿rraMaster NAS. Both TOS 5 and the latest TOS 6 systems support creating new volumes using the four HDDs and four M.2 SSDs of the D8 Hybrid, and utilizing the full range of TerraMaster NAS storage features, such as setting up storage pools, various RAID modes, and enabling snapshots.
Enjoy tool-free HDD tray swaps with Push-Lock auto-locking, preventing any accidental disconnections. Plus, slide in M.2 SSDs with specially designed covers & screws for a speedy 5-second install.
TerraMaster's intelligent cooling system, coupled with super quiet design, ensures your hard drives stay cool and your workspace stays serene. With automatic fan speed adjustment based on hard drive temperature and noise levels as low as 21 dB, enjoy optimal performance without the extra noise.
Optimized Power Management
The D8 Hybrid supports hard disk sleep mode, syncing with the computer system's sleep mode. This feature efficiently reduces hard disk usage, minimizes power consumption, and extends disk lifespan.
