TerraMaster D6-320 Overview
The D6-320 6-Bay USB 3.2 Gen 2 Enclosure from TerraMaster can function as a stand-alone storage enclosure, or be used an expansion enclosure for TerraMaster NAS devices running TOS 5.1 or above. Built with six SATA drive bays that can handle 2.5 or 3.5" hard drives and SSDs, the D6-320 delivers data transfers of up to 1016 MB/s and write speeds of up to 986 MB/s when equipped with six SSDs. It connects to your host Windows, Mac, Linux, or TOS system using a 10 Gb/s USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 (3.1 Gen 2/3.1) port that is compatible with USB 3.2 Gen 1 (USB 3.1 Gen 1/3.0), Thunderbolt 3, or Thunderbolt 4. Please note that the D6-320 may not be configured as a RAID without the use of third-party software.
Each drive bay is hot swappable and dual 80mm cooling fans operates based on system temperature, ensuring that the drives operate within their optimal range. lao, please note that the D6-320 does not currently support individual drives larger than 22TB.
With adoption of the USB 3.2 Gen2 protocol, the D6-320 provides a 10 Gb/s data transmission bandwidth, with the actual read/write speed up to 1016 MB/s when six hard drives are installed (6 x WD Red 8TB, simultaneously read/write); with only one hard disk installed, the read speed could reach 510 MB/s (1 x WD Red 1TB SSD).
Super Large Storage Space
The D6-320 supports up to six hard drives and a maximum drive capacity of 22TB (compatibility with larger hard drives is yet not verified), providing users with a storage space up to 132TB (6 x 22TB).
Note: The D6-320 does not have the functionality of an array and only supports single-disk working mode. To create an array, you need to use a third-party soft array management tool.
Compatible with HDDs and SSDs
The D6-320 is compatible with various hard disks, such as 3.5 and 2.5" SATA hard disks, and 2.5" SATA SSDs.
Note: using incompatible hard disks may cause your device to disconnect, with low speed and failure in hard disk recognition. Before you purchase, please be sure to check the compatibility list of TerraMaster hard disks.
Highly Compatible Interface
The D6-320 is equipped with a USB-C interface and a USB-C to USB-C cable that may be used with 10 Gb/s USB 3.2 Gen 2 (3.1 Gen 2/3.1), 5 Gb/s USB 3.2 Gen 1 (3.1 Gen 1/3.0), and 40 Gb/s Thunderbolt 3 and 4 interfaces. Please note that when used with Thunderbolt 3 and 4, the D6-320 will operate with 10 Gb/s speeds.
The D6-320 supports hot swapping. You can replace the hard disk when the device is powered on, making data transfer more convenient.
The D6-320 can be connected to the USB interface of a TerraMaster NAS after special adaptation and adjustment. Creating arrays and storage pools on D6-320 with TerraMaster TOS could expand the storage space of NAS.
Note: this function only works on a TerraMaster NAS running TOS 5.1 or above.
The D6-320 supports sleep functionality, which can follow the computer OS to sleep, effectively reducing the working duration and power consumption of the hard disk, and extending its service life.
To prevent equipment and hard disk from being damaged by use of an improper power supply, D6-320 adopts the power supply protection. In case of an improper power supply connected, the device will enable automatic protection to prevent itself and the hard disk from damage.
The D6-320 adopts an intelligent temperature-controlled and low-noise fan that adjusts its speed automatically based on the temperature of the hard disk to ensure the hard disk works at an optimal operating temperature. Furthermore, the internal structure of the device is specially optimized, which not only effectively increases the internal air pressure and reduces the working temperature of the hard disk, but also greatly reduces the resonance between device components and the hard disk. With this feature, the D6-320 can maintain satisfactory low noise, even under a full-load working environment.
The D6-320 is of an all-metal fuselage with a compact structure. Through structural optimization, the space occupation is greatly reduced, thus reaching a small size. Meanwhile, the D6-320 is designed as vertical and horizontal types to better meet the requirements of small commercial clients with limited space.
TPC Backupper is an extremely user friendly Windows backup tool that allows you to schedule the backup of folders and disk partitions on your Windows PC to TerraMaster USB devices or NAS network storage servers. To start automatic backups, simply connect the device to your computer, install the TPC Backupper client, and set up a scheduled backup task. This straightforward and reliable backup solution enables you to concentrate on your work, while in the background the TerraMaster D6-320 concentrates on its work to protect your crucial data. TPC Backupper supports both incremental and differential backup strategies and is compatible with Windows 11, 10, 8.1, and 8.
