FiiO FD3 Overview
Following in the footsteps of the flagship FD5, the FD3 from FiiO are a pair of wired audiophile-class earbuds with a semi-open design and large 12mm dynamic drivers that provide a wide 10 Hz to 40 kHz frequency range. Sporting a Diamond-Like Carbon diaphragm and acoustic prism, these earbuds offer enhanced sound quality with a fantastic transient response.
The FD3 not only sound great, they also look fantastic, thanks to a robust magnesium/aluminum alloy body and a hand-polished 2.5D film coated glass faceplate. Interchangeable sound tubes let you tune your earbuds for either enhanced treble or extended bass. The FD3 includes three pairs of balanced eartips, three pairs of bass eartips, and three pairs of vocal eartips, all in different sizes. The FD3 also includes foam eartips, a cleaning brush, two pairs of interchangeable sound tubes, an MMCX assist tool, a detachable audio cable, a balanced 4.4mm swappable plug for the audio cable, and a carrying case.

Flagship Dynamic Driver
The FD3 follows in the footsteps of its FD line siblings, using a newly designed 12mm dynamic driver. Inside the shell lies a driver with a robust magnet, sporting a 1.5 tesla magnetic flux, paired with an ultrafine, copper-clad aluminum Japanese Daikoku voice coil for amazingly powerful sound.
Diamond-Like Carbon Diaphragm
The diaphragm of the driver is constructed from Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC), which is both impressively rigid and helps to reduce unneeded distortion. This material is also surprisingly light, allowing the driver to provide an excellent transient response. The DLC diaphragm offers high sound quality, minimal distortion, and optimal sensitivity.
Acoustic Prism
Taken from the flagship FD5, the acoustic prism in the FD3 brings numerous benefits, such as elimination of high-frequency standing waves, enhanced overall sound wave diffusion, and solving the issue of time delay caused by sound wave propagation through the cavity.
Better Sound with a Semi-Open Design
The semi-open design provides balanced air pressure for several advantages. This design leads to a more natural sound response. It also effectively protects your hearing by balancing air pressure within the earbuds, leading to less pressure on your eardrums. This allows for a less tiring listening experience with sound that feels less forced.
Form and Function
The FD3 has a simple, yet beautiful appearance based on the theme of curves. The unique celluloid panel is covered with 2.5D film coating glass for a pure yet freshly transparent look. The aluminum/magnesium alloy of the body makes the FD3 exceptionally light.
