Store and back up your data with the ARC-1886-6N2I NVMe Cached Hardware RAID Adapter from Areca. Designed to provide power users with a mass storage solution suitable for large projects, the ARC adapter houses several M.2 NVMe storage drives, making this ideal for media and software developers.
Sporting a PCIe 4.0 x8 interface, the ARC adapter slides right into your motherboard for seamless installation. Equip the ARC with up to six M.2 NVMe solid-state drives for enhanced speed when saving and opening large files. Two SATA III interfaces allow you to connect a disk RAID system for automatic backups in case of main system failure. The ARC adapter uses a 1.6 GHz Tri-Mode Dual Core ARM A15 CPU with 8GB on-board DDR4-2666 MHz SDRAM cache to manage and control RAID storage configurations, while maintaining system performance. With a range of RAID levels, you can set the ARC adapter to 0, 1, 10, 3, 5, 6, Single Disk, or JBOD depending on your needs and how you would like information to be stored. Additionally, you can use the ARC adapter on both Windows and Mac-based desktops, allowing you to expand your storage capabilities no matter which system you prefer.
PCIe 4.0 Support
The ARC adapter uses the PCIe 4.0 interface, giving you bit rates up to 16 Gb/s which is ideal for power users looking for high-speed data transfer rates when working on complex files. This also gives you 2 GB/s bandwidth per lane and a 98.5% encoding efficiency rating, enhancing performance for your projects. Additionally, PCIe 4.0 is backward compatible with PCIe 3.0 with limited functionality.
Storage Connectivity
Able to use multiple types of storage drives, the ARC adapter enables you to use M.2 NVMe and SATA SSDs within the housing for enhanced storage capabilities. Two SAS/SATA ports allow you to connect HDD storage drives for automatic file backup, protecting your M.2 NVMe drives from corruption of data and giving you quick and easy way to recover files. An optional HDD mount caddy provides a convenient solution for connected drives specifically for the 2019 Mac Pro, whether you use the drives in tandem with the ARC adapter or directly with the Mac Pro logic board.
LAN Port Management
Manage your array remotely with a dedicated LAN port, giving you the ability to monitor your ARC adapter without any host connection. It will not disturb host access when you log in to your ARC adapter, giving you instant and easy access to your data from afar. ArcSAP utility and in-band web browser manger can be used to connect to your system securely.
Hardware Encryption Engine
Using 128- and 256-bit AES encryption, you can keep your sensitive data secure in the event of drive theft and unauthorized access. This hardware encryption engine does not impact the performance of the ARC adapter and can be implemented on any kind of storage device transparent to you, the operating system, and applications. The ARC adapter offers compatibility with ISE, FIPS, and Self-Encrypting Drives (SEDs) to secure data on the hard disks, ensuring complete system security.
Power Loss Protection
Designed to maintain the integrity of your storage devices, the ARC adapter uses a unique power loss protection system that prevents the loss of data in the event of a power failure and system crash. This hardware and firmware solution gives you piece of mind as you work diligently on your projects.
Multi-Boot Capabilities
Multi-boot support works with uEFI settings to allow you to load multiple macOS versions on a single Apple machine, giving you the ability to swap between dedicated systems designed for multiple needs.
Smart CBM
Further protect the integrity of your cached data with an optional Cache Backup Module (CBM) that uses built-in backup functionality to keep your drive powered in the event of a power failure. Data stored on the SDRAM can be written onto the drives, preventing information loss and potential corruption. Additionally, the CBM has built-in functionality to charge the supercapacitor pack automatically and to communicate its status information to the ARC adapter for proper monitoring.
