Arca-Swiss X-Table Overview
The X-Table FlipLock from Arca-Swiss gives all photography enthusiasts the tools they need for macro photography. The macro sets differ only in the quick sets with which the camera is clamped. In addition to the fine adjustment in the longitudinal plane, the Y-axis of the so-called cross tables can also be adjusted transversely with the fine drive on the X-tables. These quicksets can be rotated 90° depending on how their camera plate is attached to the camera.

Great tool!
Gears are smooth and work great. I've paired this with a D4 head and Arca-Swiss L-bracket. Love working with horizontal and vertical scales. It took me a bit to find the center of everything, but once I did it was fantastic. Things I wish were better. A scale on the bottom rail to more easily and consistently align the placement of the table in the tripod head. The bubble level seems a bit off as I pan the head. I leveled the tripod head and the bubble level would show things moving off level as I panned dead center. It took me putting a level on it to prove the bubble on the x-table was off. Still a great tool to have in the bag!
Very high quality but there was a minor problem
The slight problem was that one end of the rack tracks was loose and could be raised up with ease. I considering reparing it myself but thought at this price I should not have to do this. Besides, I would have had to use glue on a metal track. I sent it back for an exchange.
Great product, a bit confusing to set up
This is a first rate mono focusing set up. To mount it on a tripod you either need an Arca-Swiss X-system tripod head (or clamp that fits to your tripod) or to convert it to fit a standard Arca-Swiss (not X-system) plate. I used a hexagonal wrench to remove the top clamp shown in the picture and used this clamp, which has a standard 1/4 inch threaded screw hole in it to attach a standard Arca Swiss plate (e.g. Arca-Swiss Cameraplate 75 for MonoballFix). To the top I then attached a standard Arca-swiss compatible clamp (Kirk QRC-2 Quick Release Clamp for Arca-Type Plates - 2 Base). It looks like other people purchased this nodal rail that will take an x-table system mount directly (attach to the bottom rail of macro rail system) and then can be attached to a standard Arca-Swiss mount tripod head. Once set up it works extremely well with adjustable tension and a nice geared system. I chose this product based on weight and length of the rails.
A Rock Solid Product
I was in the market for a macro rail system but needed the dual adjustability of x-y axis. My photos are often taken in steep and rocky terrain where the luxury of nudging your tripod an inch or so sideways doesn't always exist. The Arca-Swiss table system was intriguing and since owning other Arca-Swiss products, I took a chance on this one having the same great quality. The advertised photo is confusing since it shows the bottom rail locked into the jaws of the MonoballFix clamp. That is where your camera plate needs to be instead. OK it didn't take too long to figure the problem. I really like the friction knobs that help to secure the adjustment knobs. The gearing is so well manufactured that if your camera were pointing at any angle besides level, the camera's weight could allow for some creeping due to gravity. I use this device with a Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM lens. To affix the lens to the MonoballFix clamp, I suggest that you also purchase a tripod mounting ring for the lens and an Arca-Swiss 75 mm camera plate. This is a good product and I have no regrets for making the purchase.
Ordered twice and both were defective
The first unit I returned had the top rail working really smooth but the bottom rail was too hard to move even if the friction knob was completely open. Second one I got- the top friction knob was not working at all. For the cost of this system and the name of Arca-Swiss I was expecting a perfect unit. I am disappointed.
The adapter is a monofix not compatible with Arca-swiss clas
The adapter is a new Arca-swiss monofix not compatible with the Really Right Stuff bracket classic for my Canon 1Dx. ?You must order the Arca-swiss 802002n adapter to change the monofix adapter to be compatible with classic plate.
