B+W Soft Pro Basic Filter (43mm)

This 43mm Soft Pro Basic Filter from B+W filter delivers sharp images, which are softly overlaid with unsharpness. Small mini-lenslets are distributed randomly on a precisely plano-parallel glass disc, scattering the light and overlaying the sharp core image with hazy, diffuse halos. This opens up deep shadows, while highlights themselves are hardly blurred, but instead form a shimmering aura in the darker surroundings. In addition to portrait photography, soft-focus attachments are used for great effects in landscape images. They reduce contrast and the light fringes in the backlight are softened. The photos take on a gentle, romantic character.

The filter is made of precision German optical glass, each side featuring seven layers of broadband coating for high-contrast pictures with minimal residual reflection and uniform light transmission. The brass filter ring features an enhanced knurling pattern for improved grip and a special functional coating for smooth mounting and dismounting. The ring features front threads, and its low-profile design makes it suitable for use with wide-angle lenses.
