When your work takes you outdoors, you're bound to encounter humidity and condensation, which can cause many mics to fail. The NTG5's RF-bias technology and conformal coating provide excellent resistance to moisture, cold, and dust, allowing you to reliably capture high-quality audio in normal and adverse environmental conditions.

Broadcast-Quality Sound

The NTG5 was engineered for transparency and all-weather performance. The combination of the NTG5's 8" long body, revolutionary circular acoustic ports, and supercardioid polar pattern yields focused on-axis directionality, smooth off-axis response, and a transparent tone with a tightly controlled low end. Its ultralow self-noise of 10 dBA and highly sensitive condenser element communicate detailed audio unburdened by the hiss that plagues many low-cost microphones.

Phantom Powered

Thanks to its 3-pin XLR output and compliance with 48 VDC phantom power, the NTG5 is compatible with a variety of handheld audio recorders, field recorders, and mixer adapters as well as built-in preamps on many camcorders and cinema cameras. The included short XLR cable?designed for use with the supplied pistol grip?features Neutrik and Switchcraft connectors and an integrated strain-relief junction box.

Ideal for Handheld Operation or Boompole Mounting

The NTG5 includes the PG2-R pistol grip shockmount, which impedes the transfer of vibrations to the microphone, and accommodates comfortable handheld operation or placement on a boompole. A mic clip is supplied in case you need to affix the NTG5 to a standard mic stand in a studio.

Windshield and Windscreen for Reduction of Wind Noise

The NTG5 has a foam windscreen to reduce unwanted light wind noise from fans, heaters, and air conditioners. For maximum reduction of wind noise in indoor or outdoor environments, swap the windscreen for the included furry windshield.

The Auray BP-47A is a 4-section, aluminum boompole that combines an anti-twist tube design with ergonomic twist locks to offer smooth telescoping and hassle-free, one-handed operation?great for adjusting the length quickly, on the fly when filming documentary, ENG, or reality-style videos. The boompole has a collapsed length of 2.5', an extended length of 7.5', and weighs only 1.6 lb. The sections are made of lightweight aluminum tubes designed for portability and durability.

An internal, coiled cable with a side-exit XLR connector makes it easy to extend or retract the boompole while streamlining your setup with fewer cables to carry. The custom, removable head tip and drop-through design allow for cable reconfiguration without any soldering required. High-quality Rean and Neutrik connectors are used for reliable signal transfer and uncompromised performance, even in challenging environments.

Solid Grip and Smooth Telescoping

• The ergonomic twist locks are covered with rubber grips that are easy on your hands and comfortable to operate, making length adjustment smooth and effortless. Improved shims ensure a firm and secure hold until you loosen the locks.

Anti-Twist Alignment Tubing for One-Handed Operation

• Quick length adjustment when you're recording on the go is crucial for keeping from interrupting the shoot. With an anti-twist design, adjacent tubes won't twist when you're expanding or retracting the boompole. This allows for one-handed twist lock operation and makes setup and length adjustment fast and easy.

 

Internal, Coiled Cable with Strain Relief

• The integrated, coiled XLR cable is engineered to minimize unwanted radio frequency (RF) and electromagnetic (EM) interference that can degrade the audio signal. The coiled design allows the cable to smoothly extend and retract with the telescoping tubes.
• The tip's strain-relief system absorbs tension, secures the cable, and protects the cable from damage at the edges of the tip exit. Additional strain relief at the bottom of the pole protects and preserves the connections between the cable and the TA3 connector.

Bottom-Exit Connector 

• With a right-angle XLR cable plugged into the bottom-exit connector, the operator can rest the pole on its end without damaging the wiring or connector.

Removable Arrowhead Tip for Solderless Cable Replacement

• BP Series boompoles feature a removable Arrowhead tip designed to reduce weight at the top of the pole.
• The tip also allows easy drop-through cable insertion for quick and uncomplicated cable replacement.
• Thanks to the solderless design, you won't need special tools to replace the XLR cable using the cable replacement kit (available separately).

High-Quality XLR Connectors 

• The internal cable is equipped with high-quality XLR and TA3 (mini XLR) connectors manufactured by Rean. The connectors ensure flawless signal transfer and secure locking connections, preventing the cable from disconnecting, even if there's stress or an accidental tug on the cable.
• The Neutrik bottom-exit connector is housed in its own casing and ensures a secure connection to the boompole that won't jeopardize signal flow by twisting or jiggling.

Standard 3/8"-16 Threaded Mount

• The boompole is outfitted with a standard 3/8"-16 threaded mount to ensure compatibility with most professional shotgun mics and shockmounts.
